    I think Marquez-Vasquez and Ward-Gatti are worth consideration as well. And Bowe-Holy should be among the alternatives.

    But the answer can't be anything other than Ali-Frazier, everything considered. It has everything: fame, politics, personal rivalry, skill, excitement and epic courage from both.

    Ali and Frazier, because of the social impact of the fights and what it represented. The personal rivalry and representation, the political and social divides involved and the international scope of the fights. Not sure there's been anything to match it before or since.

    Holmes v Cooney matched the unsavoury racist aspects of Ali v Frazier but we tend to gloss over that
