We move on to voting for the best Round 11 of all time (starting this a tad early with Round 10 voting winding down).

You can check the results of Round 1-9 voting on the master thread (when complete) and nominate Rounds 12-15 here:

    https://www.boxingforum24.com/threads/let’s-create-the-perfect-fight-round-by-round.648592/

Ground rules: This fight is going the distance, so each nominated round has to go the full three minutes — so something like the 12th round of Chavez-Taylor I is not eligible. All weight divisions are eligible. And in rounds where the participants faced each other more than once, please specific which fight. Gloved era only.

And importantly, this should be about the best rounds not the most historically significant.

Voting will be set to stay open for three days.

    Here are our nominees:

Chris Eubank-Michael Watson II (fast forward to 39:20)

The punches landed by LaMotta and Robi were far sharper and snappier than the punches landed in the other clips on here.

Great back and forth action, tons of drama. Watson pinned (illegally?) against the ropes spins off and stuns Eubank, a combination or two later puts him down. Eubank springs into a collosal uppercut which puts Watson down. It's a great round but it's a hard watch when you know what happened to Mike with the whiplash from the ropes.

Good round, constant action and those Robinson combinations are amazing. Jake had him hurt in the corner, and then Robinson chained about 40 shots off Jake's chin.

Another good action round, both were tired and giving it their all. I thought Holmes looked a little hurt at times, and then Holmes leveled Weaver with that uppercut. Good stuff!

Another good round, lots of action here but more drama. A 1-2 out of nowhere puts Chavez flat on his arse and after a closely fought round where Chavez had had a point taken off him, it spelled disaster for Chavez.

Amazing action, but some ugly moments through the middle. Morales hurt towards the end and he comes right back!

Good back and forth again, but none of the crazy action that I love.

One-sided round, but Goddamn do I love that combination to get the KD. One of my favourites, right up there with the Davey Moore KD.

Controversial, this one; Donaire definitely got a long count, but he fought back bravely, and Inoue couldn't find the finish. A check left hook stopped Inoue in his tracks and the pair exchanged in bursts for the rest of the round. I love Inoue. :p

    Rankings:
    • #8. O'Grady vs Kenty
    • #7. Duran vs Barkley
    • #6. Randall vs Chavez I
    • #5. Robinson vs LaMotta VI
    • #4. Holmes vs Weaver I
    • #3. Inoue vs Donaire
    • #2. Morales vs Barrera III
    • #1. Watson vs Eubank II
Good batch here, but nothing crazy IMO. Worst since round 6, for me.

tough pick. I had to go with Robinson-LaMotta VI though, for drama. Duran-Barkley was a close second.

Goddamit man, I wish you'd nominated some of these! There's still time for rounds 12, 13, 14 and 15 - go to the main thread and nominate some, please!

    Round 11

Tough selection here but one standout in my view. In reverse order:

    8. Eubank-Watson 2

I haven't seen this one in 29 years. It was scrappier than I remember. The real drama happens in the last 25 seconds - up to then it's a bit scrappy.
    7. SRR - LaMotta 6
LaMotta starts strong but Robinson takes over and batters LaMotta.
    6. Randall-Chavez 1
Significant round in that Randall was about to take Chavez's unbeaten record and it was this round that secured the fight with the knockdown. Good action, but not great.
    5. Inoue v Donaire
A bit one-sided. Some good moments.
    4. Kenty-O'Grady
    Some proper two-way action here.
    3. Barrera-Morales 3
Better than I remembered, some good exchanges here.
    2. Duran-Barkley
Had to watch a separate version of this as it's been edited and is a minute short. Very good action, with a terrific finish to the round.
    1. Holmes-Weaver 1
By far the best round in my opinion. Real back and forth the whole way through and punctuated with the knockdown by Holmes. Great round in a great fight!

Berbick vs. Thomas was an underrated round 11. Not that it would make the top 3 best 11 round of all time, but it could make this list.

Again, these rounds were terrific. But as one can see, as the rounds click down, the fighters do lose some sharpness in their punches. These dudes were exhausted and were still giving us a show. IMO, the rounds that really rose to the top for me were Weaver-Holmes, LaMotta-SRR, Barrera-Morales and Chavez-Randall. But what slipped slightly ahead - for me anyway - was Duran-Barkley. What a sublime blend of fast power shots to head and body for 3 minutes with the final drama of the knockdown. Jumped out of my chair 30 years ago and nearly did the same now. But watch the full 3 minute round.

Looks like we got a close one brewing. I’ll try to watch them all and cast my vote tonight.
