I actually enjoyed it more than the Holmes-Cooney fight. Could have done without all the hugging duels though.
I think he is a vastly underrated body puncher, probably because he didn't always do it. Weaver could have been WAY better than he was if only he used the tools he had (the jab, body shots)
Just rewatched and scored both Holmes-Weaver and Holmes-Witherspoon, posted in the sticky thread at the top of the Classic forum. Two really top-notch heavyweight fights. I’ll be adding Holmes-Witherspoon to the Round 9 candidates.
With only a few dissenting votes from those shady Russian judges (myself being one of them) we have a near-unanimous: Matthew Saad Muhammad-Yaqui Lopez II is our winner as greatest Round 8 of all time!
