Robinson had looked to be on his last legs prior to this fight, climbing off the canvas to barely scrape out a win over Rocky Castellani. Olson had been a very good and well regarded titleholder during Robinson's absence, and everything seemed to be aligned for him to finally beat Robby. Instead, Robby defied all logic by blasting out Olson far quicker and easier than he had back in his prime.

Take nothing away from Olivares when he blasted Rose, but the latter was waging war with the scales as well.

Lionel's title victory over Harada is beginning to get its due but we've got a while to go until everyone recognizes it for the master-class it truly was. Silky movement, lovely left hand work, and as the rounds blissfully passed the aborigine let go with those oh-so crisp combinations.

 

Rose was waging a war with the scales indeed. He had been for a few fights mind you, but 'Chucho' couldn't finish him off. Olivares was the more complete offensive fighter and puncher and had to be to get rid of Rose that quickly. I felt Rudkin beat Rose but it could've gone either way. Sakurai had given Rose hassle too (and dropped him!)

Still a quality performance from Olivares against a very skilled puncher. Raul Cruz stopped Rose over the weight as well, if I was looking for a perfect guy to beat Rose it'd be Olivares.

The glorious colour print of Harada-Rose indeed deserves more attention.

 

A shame Rose iddn't have hte punch to match his skills.He might have been the best of that Bantam era had that been the case.
