I'm a casual boxing viewer. Thus, I don't know fights mentioned above. The greatest upset in my opinion is Joshua vs Ruiz Jr.
I believe few people bet that Chris Byrd would beat the then undefeated Vitali Klitschko; whatever the Klitschko defeat scenario is.
Honestly, the victory of Bivol against Canelo wasn't much of an upset considering that Bivol was already world class before that fight...
Another one that comes to mind, that i just rewatched a few weeks ago was Juan Carlos Rubio upsetting the highly touted Panchito Bojado in the upset of the year for 2002. I remember being shocked that Bojado lost that fight because he was one of my favorite fighters back then and looked like he was going to be a future world champion. He took care of buisness in the rematch though. This content is protected
Aside from the obvious ones mentioned.Roman Gonzalez was 1/20 to beat rungvisai the first time. That was a much much bigger upset than Bivol over Canelo. Also a journeyman named sonny boy jaro beat then pound for pound rated pongsaklek wonjonkam.Keith Mullings win over Terry Norris was a huge upset in the 90’s.Alfredo Layne beating Wilfredo Gomez was an enormous upset at the time, he had a record of 13-5 going into that fight, losing to 5 complete bums.Layne then went on to lose 7 of his next 8 after beating Gomez.Vince Phillips over Kostya Tszyu was a huge upset in 97 when you consider Phillips had lost to Romallis Ellis 4 months prior to beating Tszyu.
This fight made me so sad. I had no clue Duran would come back to do some of the great things he did.
