The top American fighters are known for their love of staying at home, so much so that they make Both Joe Calzaghe and Sven Ottke seem like Air mile collectors.
But the few times they have travelled usually end up with them either fighting other Americans (Thriller in Manila/Rumble in the Jungle), in losses (Holyfield's previous few fights), or claims of bias (Dirrel) so what would be the best victory by an american fighter overseas?
My vote goes to Virgil Hill for the first round demolition job in his Rematch against Tiozzo in France.

November 6, 1976 Danny "Little Red" Lopez travelled to Ghana and scored a UD over WBC featherweight champion David Kotey before an estimated 100,000 Kotey Partisans.

I think he meant Us fighter oversea winning against non US fighter?
Both Tyson and Douglass are Us fighters so its no wonder Us fighter won here
... no matter which of them and where.

Hill over Maske was I think bigger than the one over Tiozzo

I should have worded my question better lol I meant American fighters going to another fighters Backyard and getting the victory.

So Rahman in South Africa against Lewis, and Buster Douglas in Tokyo againt Tyson dont count.

Yea the victory against Maske was awesome too, but it was a split decision, and also he was still near his prime at the time. He went to France to be a sacrificial lamb against Tiozzo, who was after revenge after the UD from their first meeting, and Hill was coming from a 18 month layoff, as well as a couple of losses against Tiger and Jones. He looked so sharp, and just proceeded to beat the **** out of him, a first round ko against a guy with a solid chin.

That was provided by US Tax payer money courtesy of the American Olympic comittee, friggin cheapskate, so it doesnt count. And no amateur stuff, i mean they fight with headgear on ffs, its not motor racing!

Foreman didn't win... it was more a case of Ali's 'backyard' than anything.
Ali was a hero there and Foreman hated.

PS, is that the Williams vs Cintron fight there in your avatar? :D

It was neutral ground, but Ali being Ali, made it his homeground thru his ridiculously infectious personality.
