Greatest Victory Ever in Boxing...

    There are many to chose from, but notable ones that stick out to me are:

    1. Frazier over Ali FOTC
    2. Schmelling over Louis
    3. Douglas over Tyson
    4. Duran over Leonard
    5. Spinks over Holmes (although personally I disagreed with both decisions)

    That was easy to call stylewise + Pavlik might prove to be not so great, he still has a while to go.

    Jones vs Ruiz (not for the performance obviously, but for the achievement)
    Douglas vs Tyson (Tyson was a beast at the time and Douglas' mother had just passed)
    Duran vs Leonard (defied the logic a good big beats a good small guy)
    Hopkins vs Tarver (the 2 weight jump after 2 defeats was a bit special)
    Clay vs Liston (the social implications of the fight make it a standout)

    Just my opinion, I'm sure there are many I've not mentioned.

    I am with Ali-Liston and Duran over SRL but I'd lke to add Pacman over Barrera as this was what created the Pacman of today. With out that win, Pacman would still be in the league of Guzman and Hatton as of today. Those wins are what defines what's great and what's merely an upset...

    While maybe not the greatest victory ever, Lloyd Honeyghan making Don Curry quit in 6 was a massive shock at the time.

    I don't think this fight had the political ramifications nor global impact of those listed above, but it certainly qualifies as a great victory as well as a major upset! Good call

    I totally agree with you, I should clarify that it doesn't really register in historical significance like Douglas over Tyson, or Ali over Liston etc but to me what Hopkins did is put on one of the best performances I've ever seen in any sport. So I suppose in that sense it is one of the greatest.
