    I think you have to consider two different criteria. One being the best in the ring, and the other being the most significant with respect to other issues, such as politics.

    In the ring:

    Duran - Leonard
    Ali - Foreman
    Clay - Lison I
    Duran - Barkley
    Douglas - Tyson


    From a political viewpoint

    Louis - Schmelling II (beyond any doubt)
    Johnson - Burns
    Johnson - Jeffries

    I'd say Douglas over Tyson.. Louis vs Schmelling, Ali vs Liston and Foreman are all good shout outs though.....

    Ali KO Foreman in round 8 shocked the entire world. This one was the greatest victory in boxing history. No doubt.

    You know.....even the roads in BKK were empty while this mega fight was being relayed. Amazing!
