    The average man falls between 147-160 and historically those weights have produced the best fights.

    As many have already said, welterweight and middleweight have been the best over the last 120 years. These weight classes possess the boxers with the best combination of power and speed. Of course, this is not every fighter, this is just the overall group as compared to other weight classes.

    I understand with weight cutting etc etc that boxers at 147-160 pounds are relatively ‘average sized’ men, but it still sounds funny when people say it because in normal life a grown man under 160lbs is a shrimp really. At least where I’m from. 180 would be more like ‘normal’.

    Really only between the original 8 classes as the others havent been around as long. Id say 147 probably has had the most HOF/ATG fight in it.
