Pacquiao has been impressive but any more so than Thomas Hearns who went from WW to LHW champion? Are either them more impressive than Sam Langford who went from Lw to HW or Henry Armstrong who won world titles at feather, LW and WW and almost won the MW title to. To me Langford is the most impressive weight jumper although he dosen't have the titles to show for it.
Hearns in fact went up to Cruiser and was the first 5 weight and first 6 weight champ in the sport. Duran still had it at Middle and ended up fighting at Light Heavy, albeit when he was fat, old and shot. James Toney may only have gone from Middle to Heavy (impressive enough) however he has probably put on more weight than anyone since his MW days. What is he now? 280lbs? De La Hoya?
Mickey Walker should DEFINITELY be in this conversation, guys. Also the Orchid Man was a very interesting weight jumper.
Great call with Guillermo Jones. How the hell that guy ever managed to get himself down to WW is beyond me.
Hearns in fact did not win a major, recognized belt at cruiser, he won a meaningless trinket alphabelt there. If Hearns is considered a true cruiserweight champ, then James Toney is a true heavyweight champ right now because he holds the IBA title.
