Alternative race-neutral post title: "Who is the greatest heavyweight other than Ali, Louis, Holmes, Lewis, Holyfield, Foreman, Tyson, Liston, or Jackson"?
1. Wlad 2. Marciano 3. Dempsey h2h Dempsey beats Wlad, Wlad beats Marciano (50/50 because of Wlad's **** stamina), Marciano beats Dempsey.
The standouts in chronological order are: Sullivan Jeffries Dempsey Marciano Wlad All of these guys dominated a definable era, with Dempsey probably having the most problems with his title reign, and Marciano the least. Sullivan and Wlad have obviously got it on depth and longevity. Head to head you can speak with a lot more confidence about the last three, than you can about the first two.
In terms of their overall career, resume, historical importance, and dominance, I would go: 1) John L Sullivan 2) Rocky Marciano 3) Jack Dempsey 4) Wladimir Klitschko 5) Jim Jeffries If we are talking head-to-head, I would have it as follows: 1) Vitali Klitschko 2) Wladimir Klitschko 3) Tyson Fury 4) Jerry Quarry 5) Jack Dempsey / Alexander Povetkin I also think Usyk has a chance to be really good if he eventually moves up to heavyweight.
I thought you were meaning Peter Jackson & thought it was a great call. I think both Jackson and Johnson were top 10 heavyweight & can't decide who would win in a fight in their primes.
Some real good reply’s and answers. I’ve got to say I think right now the klitschko brothers are number 1 and 2 greatest wise and I think Rocky Marciano is the number 3 with Jack Dempsey 4th and Jim Jeffries 5th overall with everything considered not just head to head. Tyson fury has a massive potential to become the goat white heavyweight because if he comes back and beats a Joshua or wilder he’ll be easily number one of all time. He’s already schooled a near prime Wladimir
