Next in the series after Jack Johnson In three categories Best win: In terms of quality of opponent, and manner of victory Most important win: In terms of historical significance Most spectacular performance: Not really the quality of the win, just a great display of the champion's ability. My picks To cut to the chase, I can't think of an argument for any of the categories, for anything other than his win over Jack Johnson. The performance of his life, and easilly his best win, as well as obviously his most important, ending Johnson's reign, and becoming champion. If anyone has an argument for other fights I'd be interested to see them. This content is protected
Nope, I'm in complete agreement. He was in his best condition, he had a very athletic figure at the time of the fight and proved he could take a beating
I put together some Willard highlights, just because no one else has, and I'd like there to be highlights of all the champions possible. Anyway, from what I can tell, Willard actually avoided being hit clean for the most part. His defence was actually pretty effective.
I tend to agree. Willard is not a man with only one good win, but he is clearly a champion with one outstanding win! Perhaps if he had a really dominant showing over one of the top contenders, but I don't see it. It is worth noting that we did not have the same issue with Marvin Hart!
