nope, vitali sent him into retirement..lewis got real lucky that nite. lewis even told vitali in the ring after the fight he would rematch , 'after much verbal presure from vitali', then thought better of it and retired.

You vitali fans are so funny.
"vitali sent Lewis into retirement" really? who's face was cut up? who was winning the final rounds? who was hanging on for dear life? who got tko'd.
Just stop fantasizing. Lewis was 38 years old. he had nothing else to prove. while vitali certainly did and still does.
so all you klit huggers, stfu

Look at Kallys pics then revise your opinion on who was saved.

just watch how lewis sits down on his stool after the last round..he looked the beaten man, he had nothing left..just the fact we are talking about it still is why its a shame lewis did not keep his word.,

I think Vitali's greatest victory is over Haye.

Haye was so badly beaten just on the psychological side, that he couldn't even bring himself to step into the ring.

If Vitali can beat someone so badly just on the psychological side, imagine what would have happened if he had ever had the chance to actually lay gloves on Haye?

It's a more devastating and comprehensive victory than a first round KO.

It was a four year layoff due to injury. If you think Vitali was scared of Rahman you need to STFU and watch more boxing so you post without posting ****! :deal

Lewis was FAR more gassed than Vitali.....Lewis was flat out exhausted and could barely walk back to his corner after the final round. Lewis was very lucky that the fight was stopped.

Lewis' promoter signaled Lewis doctor to stop the fight without even looking at the cut. Lewis' was desperate because he was shot, had badly broken nose and was completely out of gas. Max Kellerman was sitting right behind Lewis' corner said as much. Angelo Dundee said that Vitali was cheated out of the WBC title that night. Lewis' promoter and doctor saved Lewis from getting knocked out, and I mean knocked out! Lewis had to hold on to Vitali to keep from going down. Vitali does not run out of gas, but Lewis did many times in his career.

None of them, Herbie Hide and Spinelli are the best.

Lewis won TKo, Vitali was lucky that the fight was stopped, he ran out of gas and had the worst cuts, i have ever seen in boxing since 1974!! maybe he lost his eye in the ring during round 7. Lewis gets always stronger.

Try watch the fight instead looking on pics! I admit that Vitali shouldn`t continure with that cut, but no one can possible predict what would have happend if the ref didn`t stop it! Lennox won the fight on paper because the ref called it off, but he could just aswell be laying on his back one round later.. By watching the fight Vitali was clearly ahead and winning at the time it was stopped! In fact no one can deny that Lennox was saved just as much as Vitali!
And thats comming from a Lennox Lewis fan.
