Who are some the oldest? Fighters in a way are our link to the past, especially the great ones, an attribute that has become rarer and rarer in boxing as time as gone on. The amount of great fighters that has passed away in the last 10 years is astonishing...

Eder Jofre is still with us and is now 81, I believe he's in decent health.

Ruben Olivares is alive as well at 70, and recently did an interview with RING magazine I believe, and he was asked who the best of his opponents was in several categories. Seemed very well spoken and not damaged at all.

Doug Jones, known for possibly beating Ali, is alive and well.

I think Jofre suffers from Alzheimers these days and took a bad turn after his wife died a couple of years ago. His health had been very good prior....

Carlos Ortiz is 81 I think. Napoles is in his late seventies too and Harada and Laguna are also both in their mid-seventies.

Benvenuti is knocking on for 80 or so.

I think Daniel Zaragoza is over 100. He certainly looked it last time I saw him.

Everyone knows how ancient Foreman and Holmes are but who’s the next oldest surviving former heavyweight champion after those 2?

I have a hard time sorting out all those ABC 1980's champs before Tyson unified things.

Doug Jones died a few weeks ago and had been in very poor health for a few years. A shame.
