    Title. Which fighters that are considered consensus greats took up boxing somewhat late in their life (After the age of 20)?

    WILLARD, The greatest hw champion of all time, started fighting at age 27!!!!!

    Only a few days worth of training and he was able to beat the invincible jack johnson!!!!!

    Willard fought jack johnson who wack dempsey avoided his whole life

    Wack Dempsey also needed an iron rod and plaster to beat Willard

    James bone crusher smith started at 28 not really a great fighter but very good and very dangerous .

    Many of theses guys such as Hopkins and Lyle learned to box while in prison.
