It’s always frustrating when you see it, an example being Holmes, he actually came just before and after Golden Eras, he just missed the best of the 70s because he was green, and also was past his best, yet still world level in the 90s, but did miss it since he wasn’t at his best then.
Tunney came just before the Louis era.

Tyson basically wasted his prime with a so-so opposition. In tha 70s or 90s would have been perfect to express himself there at his best. Also this thread tidal honestly screams Klits bros era lmao

Bernard Hopkins at 160. Although not generally considered a “golden era” in the truest sense, the late 80s / early 90s middleweight division included:

    Toney
    McCallum
    McClellan
    Jackson
    Nunn
    Benn
    Eubank
    Kalambay
    Collins
    Reggie Johnson
    Watson
    Graham
    Barkley

As well as Jones obviously who Hopkins did fight.

Compare those to the guys Hopkins actually defended against during the first few years of his reign. History may well have looked a lot different if Hopkins had hit his peak in say 89 or 90.

If Liston competed 5 years later we wouldve had some of the best fights in history.
