Greats Who Wouldn't Been Seen As Great If Not For Extra Divisions

    Aaron Pryor probably would've competed at lightweight. Wilfred Benitez likely wouldn't have done as much as he did without a 154 lb. division. Carlos DeLeon would've been a stepping stone opponent type heavyweight.

    Well A lot of revered fighters would have been simply known as good contenders.

    My standard joke (and not that he was ever seen as "great") - Buster Mathis would've never been a world champion if not for Lew Eskin's "super heavyweight" division & Mathis' victory over Humphrey McBride (no relation to Kevin) in their vacant "world title" fight.

    And had zero big wins at either except for Hopkins and that was only noteworthy in hindsight. These two would go down in history as the kings of the cherry pickers. Which were they were anyway but not being able to claim all of those paper championships would have highlighted how weak their records were.

    In 1980, way before he fought Leonard, Duran ended up # 9 in a Ring poll of 50 or so experts going back to forever, in a poll of who is the greatest fighter ever. #9!!!!!!!!! You really should learn
