A few have commented on it one guy said he’d come to the gym with alcohol on his breath… another talked about him partying it up all the time in the bars of Mexico, more an impression then a fact but I’ve read it on three or four occasions that he drank a lot.
Marvin Hagler was a master in the ring, the way he was able to switch stances so smoothly and his ability to fight effectively from the conventional stance was amazing. You have to have a real high ring IQ to be able to pull that off.
hagler was a true master of stance switching. if I could name another easy great who clearly had sky high ring IQ, it’s clearly Floyd Mayweather Jr. watching him, not from an “is this exciting” viewpoint but from a “what’s he showing here” viewpoint is fascinating. It’s like a live action PhD thesis in the sweet science. I wish that he would do a full brain dump of everything he knows about boxing technique. In his own words, on camera. Would be a huge project. But man, what he could preserve, while still being in the condition to actually demonstrate most of it.
