What great fighters can you name that never had that one fight that everyone referes to as their pinnacle, that one that put them on the map and is the first thing fans think about when his name is mentioned?

For example, with Hagler it was Hearns. There were other great victories sure, but let's not kid ourselves. That's the one that put him in crossover star status.

Holmes had Cooney, though whether or not it was absolutely his best effort can be argued.

Johnson had Jeffries, etc......you get the picture.

What greats just sort of piled up victories with none of them really standing out?

I might add, just to make it harder..........let's try to eliminate fighters that had maybe a couple standout fights, such as Saad Muhammad, who is perhaps best known for either Johnson II or Lopez II, or Bobby Chacon, who had Limon IV and Boza II.

Interesting list, though I might disagree with a couple.....

Lopez: Besides being one of the few times he was featured highly on a bill as an attraction by Showtime, his second fight with Alvarez showed that he had immense grit to go with his superb skills, and really put the capper on a fine career; it sort of summed up both what he was and what his fans wanted his critics to see.

Jones, at least to me, had his defining fight with Toney. Easily a standout performance.

Was there any ONE win that establishes Carlos Monzon as an ATG? His career is more based on consistency and a series of impressive wins, rather than any one particular moment, like say Frazier's win over Ali in 1971 or Hagler's win over Hearns.

Also, I would struggle to pick one win that set Bob Foster up as an ATG. Like Monzon, his greatness is based on his outrageous consistency and solid wins at light-heavyweight.

Outstanding; Monzon was the first that came to mind for me, and I never thought of Foster.....

    My choice would be Napoles.

i'd contend that foster has tiger (if only for the knockout)

monzon is a great pick, neither benvenuti wins quite make it

napoles...****, curtis cokes would be the closest

    Panama Al Brown for me.

I suppose Harry Greb had so many great wins that they all seem similar.

Henry Maske was so uniformly brilliant that it is impossible to pinpoint one victory as being the apogee of his amazing career.
