Greb beat Brennan 4 times who wasn’t a standout talent but still a murderous puncher with decent fundamentals, he also boxed circles around Dempsey despite the latter’s speed. Could he befuddle Sonny?

All I know is that Greb has more wins over Heavyweight contenders than Liston does.

People act as if Patterson is some top 20 ATG HW. But his best wins are an Archie Moore that's even older than the one Marciano beat, and nobodies like Roy Harris, Rademacher and Tommy Jackson. Yeah he beat Johansson, but Johansson's claim to fame is beating him the first time around. He's only a top 20 ATG if you give him the Ellis and Quarry fights.

Tunney on the other hand ? One loss in his entire career to the GOAT, otherwise he's undefeated.

The man went the distance with Whitehurst each time they fought, as well as against an apparently one-armed version of Machen as @Journeyman92 likes to say. Odds are Greb was much faster and more offensively versatile than both, likely more offensively versatile than any other fighter Liston’s been in the trenches with at the latter stage of a long distance fight with aside from Ali.

You recon Sonny wins a round?

Heavens no, Liston didn't win 15 seconds against Ali, and he was only nicknamed the greatest. Against the actual greatest, he doesn't stand a chance.

In all seriousness though, Liston doesn't stand a chance.

Yeah, what am I saying? He’d probably gas by the fourth and quit by the seventh.

Quite confident on Sonny's chances aren't you ?

Ali never brought the type of relentless pace and pressure Greb did. If Ali called himself the professor of Boxing, Greb is the library of gloves he never had the chance to finish studying.

Liston gets the Gunboat Smith treatment.

Note boxer rec says Brennans KO rate is 94%(one of the highest ever) but looking it over I think the software is glitching theres way too many decisions. I spy almost 30 decisions out of 78 wins.

    Wtaf is up with that.

Can like someone call them or something? I keep a KO rate leaderboard and they are messing it up.

Anyway bringing up Bill Brennan isn't exactly the best sales pitch for why Greb can beat Sonny Liston. And thats when I thought he had a very very padded 94% KO rate. But he doesn't.

I counted roughly 27 decisions out of 78 wins, if that helps.

That's a just a product of how boxrec's system works. Newspaper decisions aren't including in the record numbers at the top of their page - which is what their KO% is based - but they are included in their actual record.

It's weird, but if you want to see a fighters full record the two easiest ways are to just search for the fighter and read their numerical record off the search page or click bout on their final fight and see it there - you'd have to add their final fight on though.
