I had another 5 page interview/article with Jim Jacobs and Bill Cayton, but ive not saved it and i cant re find it. I think at least one of the 4 Greb fights that were filmed, might have been found, I think Shade - Slattery was filmed, I also strongly, strongly belive that Carpentier - Jeanette was filmed because all photo evidence of the fight is from wire photos.
Oh yeah in the article from before the Tyson - Berbick fight Jacobs said He had a 2 min reel of footage on a fight then found the full fight and it crumbled to pieces in His hands, because it was so poorly kept.
it's funny that Jim Jacobs said that Greb Tunney I existed. klompton (our Greb expert) said that that fight film was a "red herring." Strange that both fights took place in NYC and they have not yet been found...
there was a 3 fight card Harry Greb vs. Mickey Walker, Harry Wills vs. Charley Weinert and Shade vs. Jimmy Slattery, and they were filmed almost 100% from what ive seen in TV interviews/Articles.
yeah i did always think that it was filmed but klompton said he will elaborate in his book... the film that broke in Jacobs' hands was Walker-Greb you said?
It never said, it was a film that at least 2 minutes is still surviving, im 100% sure its not that fight, the complete Jack Johnson - Tommy Burns fight was in London back around 1988 though.
Carpentier-Jeannette was definitely filmed, here's a brief article about the showing of it when a main event was cancelled: This content is protected
