I've heard stories from both sides. Anyone got anything decisive?

Probably all that will ever be known is through heresay, legend and Micky Walker's own account of catching Greb in the act of taking huis coat off. It means nothing really, as Greb proved he was the better man inside the ropes.

from what i heard, walker challenged him and when greb accepted, they went outside. at that point, walker sucker punched him as Greb was taking his coat off. greb went down and walker claimed he won the "rematch"

I've got a horrible feeling it didn't happen. Walker told a couple of different versions. Good story.

Its Mickey Walker Irish Blarney. They may have been in each other face at one point buts that's about it.

I think that this is something of an urban myth' and one that does not always involve Harry Greb and Mickey Walker.

There is a verry similar story about a street fight between Jem Mace and Tom King. It is the same story even down to the policeman intervening and laughing at the participants when they tell him who they are before chasing them off.

Look you all, Walker was really a stocky but solid man from 147 to 155 pounds.... Them were his BEST fighting weights......... Walker held titles at 147 / 160, but he was not really a solid middleweight........ And, against Max Schmeling, Walker was still stocky but also a bit tubby in the girth area.......

Harry Greb was a true 160 pounder with muscle.... Skillwise, he was not very technical, based on my readings..... I have no film footage of Greb in the ring, only pictures....

Now, in a real fight in the ring in front of a crowd and state officials, I'd prolly lean toward Greb to beat Walker based on relentless pressure and strength.... However, it is possible that Walker could've outboxed the more crude Harry Greb to win a decision... Who knows???

in a street fight, i go with greb. normally i'd go with the harder hitter in walker but greb knew every dirty trick in the book, which he'd use, then beat the **** out of you with the book. the only exception is punching a dude when he's taking off his coat: that's all walker

You do know Greb defended his middleweight title against Walker, don't you?

Yeah, Greb won a 15 rounder over Walker on July 2, 1925, up in New York.... Too bad no film of the fight is available...... I'd choke my chicken in public to get my paws on that fight......

Overall, Greb was stronger than Walker because of his natural size and big biceps, but I think Walker was the more skilled smaller man who was equally as tough....... A close call there..... Perhaps too close........
