Which is better for MMA. Perhaps greco- roman in the cage, clinching up against it etc? What do you think?
If you're an American or Canadian, where all wrestlers grow up doing Folkstyle, which includes leg attacks, then Greco makes sense as you get alot of extra work in the standing clinch in Greco, which you see alot of in MMA, and you will already have a very good background in Folkstyle to even get to the level where you can wrestle the international styles with any level of seriousness. If you are from an Eastern European country you are better off with Freestyle as you tend to start specialization earlier in life, plus the Eastern style of Freestyle is much more tailored to the standing clinch compared to the American style of Freestyle. If you have to pick one, obviously go Freestyle, everything legal in Greco is legal in Freestyle, just focus more on the tieups and clinches. Most people don't need to pick one though.
