The boy Tyson is 10-0 after his fight with Robert Colay in 1985 , and imagine that 82 Cooney is around and they accord a fight, who wins.

I seriously don't know. I want to say Tyson, but then I factor in that Cooney would be prime and Tyson relatively inexperienced.

    Dangerous fight tho.

Lemme guess, immemoryofjakelamotta, you think that Cooney would outbox Tyson Muhammad Ali style, come off the ropes and KO a drunk Mike Tyson in the 9th.

No.....normally I'd pick Tyson to bulldoze Cooney, but an inexperienced Tyson vs the best versions of Cooney, I don't know.

I wouldn't say bulldoze. I'd say 5 or 6 absolutely torrid rounds of intense mixing in the air between two of the best heavyweight uppercuts of all time. Cooney could slug away with Tyson a while, but would wear out from the pace, and Tyson would stop him.

Tyson had been facing adults in smokers since has was twelve according to Teddy Atlas as well as Tyson himself in his autobiography. He may have been professionally less experienced than a prime Cooney but still had years of experience and was so damn hungry. Trained like a monk back then, listened to everything Jimmy Jacobs and Kevin Rooney has to say. Tyson wins by ko somewhere after six rounds.

I think that Tyson would feel him out for five or six rounds and end up knocking him out in the 9th or 10th. BUT, I do think Cooney would land a number of good shots during the course of the fight (especially a few good left hooks to the body). This type of fight would be an excellent learning experience for Tyson... He really didn't receive any type of serious challenge until he faced Tillis in 86.

Cooney might land a left hook but he will get hit by a combination in return. I don't think Cooney could take more than a couple of power combos from Tyson
