Green accuses Tarver of dodging calls as he hits back at 'coward' tweet

DANNY GREEN has hit out at Antonio Tarver's claim that he was a coward for not taking up a rematch clause in their contract after the American savagely took his IBO cruiserweight crown in July.

Green's choice of his next opponent, Polish WBC cruiserweight champion Krzysztof Wlodarczyk, was not well received by Tarver.

''The guy never wanted to fight me 3 yrs ago and he didn't want the rematch,'' Tarver tweeted. ''He's a coward. He shamed his country and his city of Perth.''

. After weeks of not responding to the Australian's emails and calls Tarver contacted Green only when his bid to fight Russian Denis Lebedev and then Zimbabwean-born British heavyweight Dereck Chisora fell through.

''He's ended up with nothing,'' Green said. ''Tarver is a world champion without a bout. When he finally came back to me it was too late, we'd signed with Wlodarczyk.''

Green believes Wlodarczyk is a ''physically harder'' challenge and he plans to regain lost ground on November 30 by defeating the hard-punching 29-year-old whose ring name, Diablo, translates as Devil. Wlodarczyk rattled world boxing when he beat the division's most highly regarded fighter, American Steve ''USS'' Cunningham, for the IBF belt in 2006.

''I think he's physically a harder fight than Tarver,'' Green said. ''Tarver had a great night against me in Sydney. He was able to counter-punch me and in the end take me out of my game. He did enough damage in the fight, and I was pretty stuffed by the end of it. Wlodarczyk throws more punches, he comes forward. He's not like Tarver because he'll actually engage in a fight. He can counter-punch but he's more of a walk-up fighter, a big banger with a very aggressive style.''

Indeed, the West Australian predicted Wlodarczyk would give an insight into what his, Green's, opponents experienced when they fought him. ''He's similar to me in his aggression, he has a real good chin and he really punches,'' Green said. ''He has a ferocious power and good defensive skills.''

''They have stressed it was not true. The suggestion he was put in an induced coma … mate, I have been assured by the Polish boxing authorities, the doctor who prescribed the pills and his agent, Don Majeski, that it's not true.

    Load of bs.

Why was green in such a rush to sign his next fight? If he really wanted tarver, he could have waited a bit longer if tarver was shopping around. I mean they only fought less than two months ago, and tarver has talked about a green rematch for the past month.

No wonder he said they couldnt wait for tarver....they had to get a signature from a nutter before he woke from his coma.

Green had no intention of a rematch. He talks just as much **** as the bloke who taught him this caper.

Green never wanted the rematch, he can spin it anyway he wants but no one is believing it.

Because he is fighting an ill man. This could be another banana skin for Team Green similar to the Briggs fiasco.

I wonder if Team Green will have another DVD cover up ready for the after fight press.

Doesnt make any difference, if the pole is healthy its a very good match up and he deserves credit. That said, this guy was an attempted suicide statistic eight weeks ago, so it raises ????

Qhe lied about the tarver rematch and went public with his bs. He deserves to get called on it. If he shut his mouth and just moved on, no one would be saying anything. But danny loves hearing his own voice and doesnt know when to zip his lips.

Prove he lied? I read his quotes.

I know this guy tried to off himself because he had his stomach pumped. They dont do that if you took two sleeping pills and a glass of water. you dont accidentally swallow a handful of tablets.

u have no idea what he took, how many he took, whether it reacted with other medication, whether he was exhausted, dehydrated, had a few whiskeys, whether it was for precautionary reasons etc. etc. etc.
is it fact that his stomach was pumped or rumour. i don't know.

but u comment as if u were there.

    stfu or show proof.

The problem with Green is he was talking **** about fighting Tarver in America. How many would that draw? I'd guess 500-1000. So Green would want Aussie PPV money (less on Sunday afternoon) and Tarver would barely get five figures that US tv would pay for it? Totally unrealistic. Would be nice if media called Green on the **** he spouts.

As others say though, Wlod is a good fight.
