Green calls out BHOP on US television

    Australian cruiserweight champion Danny Green has heaped more pressure on Bernard "The Executioner" Hopkins by calling out the American great on US TV.
    Green, who shocked the boxing world by knocking out Roy Jones Jnr earlier this month, was in the crowd at California's Agua Caliente Casino on Saturday to cheer on Sydney's Vic Darchinyan in a world-title fight.

    After Darchinyan's ferocious second round knockout win over Mexican Tomas Rojas the US TV broadcaster of the fight, Showtime, crossed to Green in the stands for an interview.

    "I took down one legend - the legendary Roy Jones Jnr,'' Green told an audience of millions of American boxing fans.

    "If I can get Bernard Hopkins to come to Australia or I'll come here and fight him.

    "I don't care. I've fought all over the world.

    "To get two legends in the ring and to try and defeat them would be a dream come true.''

    Before Green knocked out Jones Jnr in the first round in Sydney on December 2, Hopkins, who was set to fight Jones Jnr in a huge payday bout, painted the Perth-born fighter as a nobody, but that seems to have changed.

    Green's camp appears to have 44-year-old Hopkins's attention by offering him a cash windfall to fight in Australia greater than what he could earn against any other opponent, including light heavyweight Chad Dawson.

    "Danny Green is who he is over there (Australia),'' Hopkins told US boxing website Boxden.com.

    "He fills the place up and they have the budget to satisfy me.''

    Green told Showtime he hoped to fight Hopkins "in the first quarter of 2010''.

    Asked about possibly fighting another US light heavyweight champion, Antonio Tarver, who knocked out Jones Jnr in 2004, Green said Tarver was not the number one target.

    Tarver declined to fight Green three years ago, instead looking for bigger paydays with other boxers.

    "He had his chance in 2007 and he messed us around pretty big so we'll wait and see,'' Green said.

    Have been told no chance of the fight occuring during March, due to Greens superstitions of the number 3.

    Make of that what you will.

    I don't like Greeny that much anyway, but if that's true he's an even bigger noob.

    BTW can't knock the bloke for getting the big fights unlike some other Aussie/Muslim peanut.

    INTERESTING...funny thing is 3 is his lucky number so not sure why he would be worried,although i notice the last 2 fights he's had in March were against Beyer and Sullivan which didn't go to well.

    Yeah thats what I though LJD, I remember in an interview him saying he only turns up the volume on his tv by multiples of 3. And before the Jones fight he said December was lucky for him so maybe your March statement has some basis.

    Anyhoo, rumours are swirling over here as you probably know but if I have to answer another query of 'Was the fight fixed?' I'll ****ing lose it.

    Good on ya Danny, I hope the fight get's made and by the early reports it's very positive! Well done for having the gumption to chase and make big fights happen.

    Well done danny.....Dont wait to much longer but,coz if hopkins is 46 by the time you fight him ill stick it to you harder.

    who would of thought this after the 2006 clinic Mundine put on him.no wonder his supporters are still grasping onto the 2006 fight.running from KESSLER,now Geale:lol:.he should have Iron Maidens run to the hills as his ring entrance song.

    yep gotta admit when he came back chasing Mundine for a rematch i thought man is Green gonna be a parasite trying to suck all he can from Bumdine?but now hes moved on from that hes certainly getting kudos from me for testing himself and actually trying to get bigfights.
