This thread only emphasizes the absolute pile of crap we get served up now regarding World Titles.

IMO most, or perhaps all, of the dime-a-dozen titles on offer aren't fit to carry the name 'World Title'.

A hundred years or more ago when there was only one 'Championship' it made sence that the title was called 'World Title' because winning it made you the-best-in-the-world.

Winning a single title these days, particularly a Mickey Mouse one, doesn't make you a World Champion IMO. It certainly doesn't make you the best in the world!

...afterall, what worlds are we talking about here?

...last time I looked there was only one World FFS!!

beyer was actually coming back in that fight and if it had of gone the distance I reckon beyer would have won. The last 6 rounds would have ended the same way as their 2nd fight.
Its irrelevant anyway because he was rightfully dq'ed for some shocking headbutts. So actually he never beat beyer and was schooled badly by him...

Spot on. If Mundine and Green were fighting in the 1970's when there was only 2 belts (WBC & WBA) neither of them would have won anything and if they did have the balls to challenge for the title then they would have had to face the best. Green certainly wouldn't be fighting garbage like Drews or Dominguez standard fighters if he fought for a world title in the 70's.

Guys can keep on laughing at my moments on Dawson but when Johnson beats him AGAIN like he did the first time and was robbed then you will see that Dawson is just hype.

He is good but far from great.

Please stop with this robbery nonsense. The first Dawson-Johnson fight was very very close, it certainly wasn't a robbery either way. If someone believes that Johnson won a very close fight then fair enough, personally i believe that Dawson probably just won the fight but it was very close. Imo some people believe Johnson won because the rds that he won were more dominant than the rds that Dawson won and therefore he did the more damage etc but each rd is scored individually and you can't judge a fight as a whole. To say it was a robbery is just stupid. You obviously don't like Dawson as a fighter whereas i believe he is very good and definately the best at 175 today. At the age of 26 he has faced and beaten Adamek easily, Tarver twice easily, close win over Glen Jphnson. Dawson is also showing the balls to rematch Johnson when others probably wouldn't and he is also seeking a fight with BHop. I believe Dawson will beat Johnson much clearer in the rematch and also be too young and fresh against Hopkins next year but you will no doubt disagree.

Regardless Danny has had a good career until now. And his record is still a lot stronger than Alan Green and Arthur Abrahams. Who are 2 fighters, the world just can't get enough of.

Lucas had gone 12 rounds with Jones Jnr and was ranked in the top 5 at 168 when Green stopped him.

I think Drews was ranked around 8th or 9th. Not sure about Lucas, he may have been ranked 5th, or maybe a bit more down the track. Robin Reid (who was quite underrated IMO) would have been in the mix around then. He was still regarded as a good scalp though, and Green smashed him.
