Green V Hopkins a no go according to Dan Rafael

    Discussions ended Tuesday night with the sides going their separate ways because of a money dispute, promoter Gary Shaw, who is serving as Green's adviser, told ESPN.com.The crux of the dispute, according to Shaw, was Hopkins' demand for a 60-40 split of the money in his favor instead of the 50-50 deal Shaw said they had previously agreed upon.
    "Green will not move off 50-50," Shaw said. "B-Hop will wait forever for 60-40."
    Shaw and Green met in Los Angeles two weeks ago with Hopkins' promoter, Richard Schaefer of Golden Boy, to peruse numbers and hash out a deal for a cruiserweight fight that would have taken place in April on pay-per-view in Australia and on HBO in the United States.
    "We thought we had a deal at 50-50 when we left Richard's office. We had gone over all the numbers Danny did in the Roy Jones fight," Shaw said.
    Shaw said he then went to HBO and negotiated the rights fee with the network, which had offered more than $2 million for the bout. The scenario called for the fight to be on a Sunday afternoon in Australia so it could be televised live in the U.S. in prime time on Saturday night.
    "After I met with HBO, Danny spoke with Bernard once or twice and Bernard suddenly changed the deal," Shaw said. "He told Danny he wanted all of the HBO money because he was bringing HBO, which wasn't accurate because I was the one who went to HBO and negotiated the money."
    Shaw said the deal they had previously agreed to was 50-50 with Hopkins being guaranteed at least $3 million.
    "Once Bernard changed the deal, Danny said it was a non-starter," Shaw said. "So let them go their separate ways."

    hopkins got cold feet...running scared, the money issue is bull****, they both could make a few mil on this one :-(

    This sounds all too familiar , he done this to Joe back in 2002 like i said on here a few weeks back , Greenie should concentrate on getting Mundine back in there for his retirement fund fight lads .Happy new year to ALL on Aussie ESB .

    Danny should of accepted 60/40 IMO.Hopkins is a HOF but
    thats the way it goes.i hope he doesnt fight Siaca.Bika.
    wonder if Nard will fight Dawson now??

    Greens way ahead of himself if he thinks he deserves a 50/50 split against a legend of the sport. He should of been happy that Hopkins was willing to give him the fight to get him even more exposure on the world scene that Hopkins attracts. Dumb move.

    This will be massively dissapointing if this is the end of it.

    I get the impression Bhop does not really want this fight. If it is accurate that Bhop turned the deal on its head after an agreement was informally made than it screams of Bhop deliberately shutting it down. Yes my friends, running scared of another defeat where the wieght of American expectations sits heavy on the shoulders. Ask RJJ how it feels to be dragging his sorry ass around after sparking out any hope of a curtain raiser with Bhop.
    Bhop can feel it in his old bones.
    Danny should have taken the split then knock the **** out of him.

    well, now that hopkins is 72 yo...his assertion that he'll "never let a white boy beat him" demands that he employ other tactics besides just fighting to achive that goal.....

    otherwise..danny would smash the *****!!
