A lot of walking in the first minute. This is a great walking match. Green erupts with a quick combo, going from jab to uppercut and surprising BJ a little. Flores shakes it off and follows, trying to hook in wide. Green taps his gloves together and hops laterally, then lands a right. Green keeps luring BJ in and tries a wide hook of his own. Flores follows, lands a jab, realizes it landed flush and snapped Danny's head a bit but it's too late as Green has moved out of the pocket. Flores walks right into a right hand that snaps his own head back.
"He fought a great, smart fight. I don't necessarily agree with the wideness of the scorecards, but in his hometown I think he did enough to win." Classy stuff from Mr. Flores.
I would rather a guy be both an absolute dick and someone who tries to win the fight than be a very polite *****-assed loser, personally. **** class! Incidentally, I'm vBitter and unapologetic about it.
Flores bottled it, simple as that. As most US fighters seem to do when going abroad. He didn't commit to work enough and he got what he deserved. I think score cards were fair in this case, Flores didn't do enough to win rounds, and at most won 2 or 3.
I don't dispute that Green won (and neither does Flores), but two rounds is a little harsh considering that Green didn't really put much of a stamp on many of those in the last half and was getting backed up almost bell to bell.
Flores lost rounds due to inactivity and lack of guile, aggression. Since Green was backing up, BJ had the chance to be the aggressor, he didn't, he stood off Green, so rounds end up going to the counter puncher. When BJ did try to get to Green on the ropes, he got caught, and that was the story of the fight. I can see how and why judges were awarding Green rounds. If you are the guy on the front foot, YOU MUST DO MORE! YOU NEED TO FORCE THE PACE. Green was comfortable with what he was doing and successful.
Scores were acceptable, 2 rounds is a tad harsh on Flores, though anymore than 4 to Flores would be very dubious, it was a close fight but most of the rounds were quite clear, Flores did just little enough to lose the majority of the rounds in the fight.
Tough fight to score, Green probably won by 4-5rds. BJ looked the aggressor but got tagged a far bit................ Green was smart and knew the bigger man was dangerous. BJ has a good chin. Green shld stick to LHW and fight the top 3 or defend the CW titlle against opposition outside top 5 in Oz and get good pay days.
