Green's Siaca fight to smoke out Mundine

Australia's IBO cruiserweight boxing world champion Danny Green says he hopes to "smoke out" arch-rival Anthony Mundine by defeating one of his conquerors - Manny Siaca.

Green announced on Tuesday he will defend his world title against 34-year-old Siaca from Puerto Rico on April 14 at the Sydney Entertainment Centre.

With American superstars Bernard Hopkins and Antonio Tarver knocking back offers to fight Green, the Australian has managed to secure a fight against Siaca who won a points decision against Mundine at the same venue in May 2004.

Siaca has a record of 22-6 with 19 KOs.

Green, 28-3, will be making the second defence of his title and hopes it will help bring a rematch with countryman Mundine who defeated him in their first clash in Sydney in 2006.

"Our approach to Anthony Mundine is trying to smoke that rabbit out of his hole," Green said.

However, he insisted he would not underestimate Siaca in the meantime.

"Siaca is a tough and experienced fighter who has fought some of the world's best, so I certainly won't be taking him lightly," Green said.
Siaca said Green was a powerful fighter but he held no fears of the Australian.

"I have very fond memories of Sydney and I'm confident I can do what I did to Mundine and take Green's title," Siaca said.

...it's a Green landslide result tipped so far - and all by stoppage.

Siaca looked pretty big against mundine at Middleweight, im not sure if siaca is shot or not but he may give Danny a run for his money, i hope Danny puts him on his azz then perhaps mundine will get it on and all these mundine green threads will finally be put to an end lol.. i wish

and thousands of brawls at clubs & pubs around aussie again no doubt lol.. it usually dies down but then flares back up when they both slag each other in the media again trying to entice the other to another fight. I dont know if its all hype or its for real but im quickly loosing faith in mundine with the opposition he is handpicking of late.

We all know Danny was starved for that fight and id love to see the rematch at cruiser, i really think Mundine is scared that Danny will hurt him at that weight and is avoiding him, if Danny knocks siaca out then this will surely lure mundine out, his ego will get the best of him and he will have no other choice.. we should get some grace a month or two after the fight until they start to mouth off again for a 3rd encounter.

You couldnt script this stuff better if you were a movie writer i rekon, these guys are brillant and will make alot of money!

I can't believe that so many people STILL buy into the hype. It's laughable.

Did you think i was a mundine nut suckler m8? i dont mind the guy but what his doing right now is a joke, just a slap in the face to people who know the know in boxing and daylight robbery for the poor *******s who dont have a clue what his doing.

Im still a mundine fan but i shake my head at some of the sht he does, he could be so much more if only he would test himself and fight some real fighters at proper weights. Make no mistake, Mundine is bussiness not boxing, its all about dem dollars :hat
