some people are on it that because Siaca beat Mundine that he should beat Green as Mundine got Green. when ur losing to guys like Branco and Mitchell i have a hard time seeing him beat green.
Siaca has faded, but to be honest he probably would have been soundly beaten by Green during his prime. Mundine's performance against Siaca was one of the most cowardly (in a boxing sense) performances in the ring by a champion that I've seen. Green would not have been bullied by him, thats for sure.
On Green v Siaca......Green stops him mid rounds Pecks...are you talking about the last 3 rounds? Mundine SNR told choc going in to the 10th round..."your ahead on the cards...just dont get hit"...you can hear it clean as day. Turns out it was bad advice as choc ran and lost. He should just have done what he did after the knock down to end of round 9 and he would have won by 2 rounds. Dont agree with coward :bart It was bad corner advice
His whole game plan was just too passive though, and game plan or not, he never won any round convincingly and was dicing with danger by being way too timid. It was a cowardice fight plan. It took his fight plan against Echols (which was effective) to a whole new level.
These people don't know boxing. Mundine should not have lost that fight, if green loses this he's done because siaca was done ages ago. The fight is only happening because it means green can milk the perth crowd without needing a big name and because it gives the gormless morons who don't understand things a stick to beat mundine with when he wins. ashley your mundine related posts are mostly spot on, save me typing a lot of the time :deal
Even the most ardent Mundine supporter could clearly see Mundine was effected by the knockdown...he was as pecks said very passive, wasnt committing to his punches and thus they were often falling short and his output was dismal. It was typical Mundine arrogance to assume that he would be a lock for winning rounds that came down to a handful of punches between either guy.
It was arguably his worst performance........ Watched it again the other night and Choc was disgraceful, weak, timid, passive, scared...... the list goes on
Sorry to hijack a green thread but if Mundine was so scared why would he fight Kessler 6 months after watching Kessler **** up Siaca? Now if Mundine was so scared of Siaca no way he would have faced Kessler after such a one way beating he handed out to Siaca.....answer this without being smart. :hey
He was Kessler's mandatory and had no way out - he did however immediately challenge Green upon getting off the plane from Copenhagen after seeing Kessler smash Siaca. It would be reasonable to assume that he was looking to use that as a way out of it.
Taking a fight on paper and actually being in the ring are two different things ash. Mundine wasnt scared of Siaca coming into the bout...but its the events that transpired during the fight that made him shell up and give away rounds. Namely the knockdown and Siaca's physical advantages. Boxers have egos...its their job to do mental gymnastics and twist things around in their head so that they dont effect them in later bouts. Its comes part of the job description to be a little delusional and truly believe that if you are 100% fit for a fight you can beat anyone. What Mundine did with Kessler in and out of the ring bucked the trend of his career up until that point..and I commend him for that. But the two things are unrelated...Mundine fought "scared" against Siaca because he got hurt. By the time of the Kessler fight that was a distant memory.
I still think he was serious about the first Kessler fight. Sure he was mandatory but as he's shown us since, he doesn't mind skipping weight when forced to fight his mandatory. If he truly didn't think he could win he wouldn't have bothered winning the purse bid, etc. He'd have simply done a Beyer and went to Copenhagen, got his cash and ****ed off back home quick. Ash, did you really see the final 3 rounds of the Siaca fight being any very different to the previous 9? Tha Arran/Anglosaxan fight had more punches landed that this one. :yep
