honestly allan should really rethink his career and where its going because its clear he's never going to beat a top guy at middleweight he was beaten and nearly ko'ed by edison miranda at super middle he was ko'ed by an old glen johnson and shut out completely by andre ward at light heavy he was just brutally ko'ed by a slightly faded mikkel kessler
so a fighter gets knocked out and he doesnt have a steel david tua jaw its immediatley a glass jaw all of a sudden. when glen knocked him out He was technically knocked out because he didnt get up before the count but he wasnt really out of it. he layed down and talked to the referee instead of actually getting up. green could had gotten up before the count but he was tryna debate his knockdown instead of getting up before the count. as for the kessler fight, yeah he got knocked out but it dont mean his jaw is glass all of a sudden. he just got hit with a mean shot by kessler who IS a world class fighter.
Green has always had poor (below average at best) punch resistance. This is nothing new. Yes, it was a great shot from Kessler and might have knocked out even some guys with strong chins. So what? That doesn't disprove that Green has a very weak jaw as shown by the inordinate number of times he's been hurt, rocked and wobbled by a wide variety of opponents including some non-hitters. He's been lucky enough to scrape by and survive in a lot of those cases - and even come back to win - but don't be fooled by him only having two stoppage losses. Guy can't take a shot for ****. That isn't to take credit away from Kessler at all. It was a massive left hook. Massive left hook + glass chin = timber, and a dude conked out on his back like we saw.
Kessler landed a peach on Black Charlie Z. It's not Green's fault he posesses the madibular fortitude of a cleft palated child.
Ward couldn't even hurt or wobble the glass chinned Green and Miranda, who have been stopped multiple times in their career. I'll make a bold statement: Ward will never stop anyone ever again (unless he makes a tune up fight against the likes of Shelby Pudwill). Against A or B opposition - no way!
Green was wobbling all over the shop against Ward. But yeah i can't see Ward stopping anyone anytime soon.
Nah, he was more tired of getting slapped around by those two pillows that are Ward's fists. He wasn't even close to going down. Ref stoppage was Ward's only hope.
ward did stagger and wobble kessler pretty good and busted froch up worse than anyone froch fought...go figure
Not to worry, I seriously doubt he'll be getting any more big paydays at this point. Promoters should finally be convinced that they can't fool anyone into getting excited about Allan Green as a credible challenger anymore. Or, who knows, maybe they'll try and play up that lame first round knockdown and market him as a can't miss "dangerous but vulnerable" type for the winner of Bute vs. Froch. :-(
In all seriousness, the chin talk is just a bit of fun, but the main reason I dont like Green is the way he talks during the build up and never backs it up, I hate that in a boxer!
:nod Not only fails to back it up - as it would be one thing if someone talked **** but just didn't have the talent to compete and got blown away every time out - it's that he shows up with this shitty mentality, almost petrified from the time the first bell rings. When he he does bother to throw shots it's very stiffly, and with a look of fear on his face. Don't talk that level of **** if you're never going to bring any fire.
