    Former WBA light heavyweight champion and current IBO cruiserweight champion Danny Green is doing his best to make a fight with Bernard Hopkins happen by taking a smaller purse than the future Hall of Famer. Green originally offered a 50-50 split of a multi million dollar purse with Hopkins and this offer was accepted but later the American had requested a 60-40 split in his favour after it was revealed HBO would televise the fight on prime time USA television. Green said, “When I left the States two weeks ago we had an agreement that whatever goes into the pot we were 50-50 which is what we did with Roy Jones. And after the momentum of the Roy Jones fight, I could fight SpongeBob SquarePants and still make good money. But it’s not about the money for me. It’s about continuing to try to build a legacy and knocking out two future hall-of-fame fighters. Knocking out two legends, bringing two legends to my backyard and helping the sport of boxing. I spoke to Bernard again on Christmas Eve and then I had the Sydney to Hobart, so I haven’t spoken to him for the past week. I’ve got one more phone call to make to him to try to make this happen. I’m confident that he’s going to take this deal. He’s squabbling over making millions. Let’s just make it happen and get it on!”

    Hopkins is a real tough negotiator but realistically 60-40 to Hopkins is more than fair. He is the main drawcard. He brings all the US money plus half the crowd in Australia. Plus he is fighting in Green's backyard.

    Green needs to realise who he is in the big scheme of things, that is, a nobody who got one lucky shot in. Take the money and run, only good things will come out of it.

    Siaca's name has always seemed to have stuck around Oz ever since the Mundine fight. It's a bad smell that just wont go away.

    Funny thing is Green would stop Siaca cold at LHW.....then that adds to the Green v Mundine rematch at 175 :deal

    Normally you'd be right, but this is Australia and we've got some pretty strange guidelines over here.

    If Hopkins pulls out, Green could bring in a Glen Johnson and the fight would be marketed well and Green would make 2 mill plus just like the Jones fight.

    I'm not sure what other options Hopkins has that'd get him a 2mill plus payday.

    I guess HBO is paying $2m for Danny Green. Yeah Right.

    I ask you this hypothetical.
    Q. Would you pay $300AUD for a ringside seat to watch Hopkins v Green?
    A. Yes in a heart beat
    Q. Would you pay $300AUD for Green v Nobody?
    A. **** off.

    The majority of punters at fight night will be there to watch Hopkins. The same for those buying PPVs.

    Hopkins may not be THE drawcard in the US but this is Australia. We are starved of world class quality fighters. Green is not Anthony THE MAN Mundine. Green is not a master of self promotion. He needs others to sell fights for him.

    I think it's embarrassing to be fighting over such little money. Has someone got Dannys number because I would like to sponsor him in this fight. Let Mr Hopkins have the 60/40 split and I will give Danny some money out of my own pocket.

    It's not about the money? Why's he crying over 10% then? I know the principle is still there but honestly, when you're talking millions of dollars who gives a ****. Danny doesn't want this fight to badly then. I hope BHOP wins anyway. lol
