Haugen beats the **** outta Manfredy. Angel would have NEVER beaten Paz or Jimmy Paul. And Sweet Pea's win over Haugen was more impressive because well...... Haugen was way better than Angel. Haugen would have lost to Floyd by a wide margin, but Floyd wouldn't have blown him away like he did Angel.
:dealThe thread should have been closed down after this post. The case has been stated clearly and there's nothing more to add.
So did Ivan Robinson........ twice. Both Vinny Paz, and Jimmy Paul were both MUCH better fighters than the Canadian punching bag known as Gatti.
Haugen was clearly superior to Manfredy, but it wouldn't have been a very interesting bout, as Greg would have been able to beat him soundly without much passion involved. Haugen beats him easily over the distance IMO.
I think Manfredy is a little bit underrated. Certainly no world beater but a B- level guy at his best.
Not much between them..idk...Haugen is being a bit overrated and Manfredy Underrated...Haugen had a good jab lil to no power on the world class level, Manfredy only lost to the very best in his prime Johnston, Floyd, and Chico whom Haugen would lose to as well....Haugen is the fav but its gonna be a close fight regardless who wins
..haugen has never been overrated..he's one of the most honestly evaluated fighters I ever known of..in fact, he may be a bit underrated by many who pull this "Alaskan tough-man" brawler **** all the time. He was anything but a brawler. He had a very subtle, thinking man's game to compensate for not having any spectacular gifts as a fighter. Haugen was a smart fighter..a tactical fighter.
I wouldn't count Haugen out against Corrales or Johnston. Both are winnable fights for him imo. To me he's on their level as a fighter. As to which performance was better, I'd say Pea vs. Haugen by far. One of the best sustained outclassings of a decent fighter available on film.
