Yeah, that site jumped the shark when they began charging, and really jumped the shark when Leon began advising.
i used to have a subscription to his site and i could say i got my money's worth. i know people have the opinion you shouldn't be paying for something you'd be able to see in other boxing websites and believe me i share the same sentiments - his locked interviews are great, interesting reads you won't find anywhere else. and the archive is just full of precious gems. often times i've seen people here and on other forums practically BEGGING to get a taste of those members-only interviews but ironically attack greg and his website nonstop. with regards to his being completely off about pac-dlh, aren't we all in the same boat? no offense but unless your name is pacdbest then you have no ****ing business rubbing it into his face. anyhow i didn't continue my subscription because i felt that the site started slipping and the content wasn't as good as it was a year ago. and i really have to question greg's move into promoting. still, i feel that all this hate is unwarranted. it's almost become a fad.
As a writer, I refuse to pay for content (even if it's quality) when the people who wrote it aren't being compensated. In regards to him being wrong about Pac/Hoya, it's not that he was wrong that I have an issue with, it's his arrogance and subsequent decision to not even address the fact that he was wrong that irks me.
you can't knock greg for that. forumers won't even own up to the fact that they were way off about pac/dlh. what more for a site owner? greg is a prideful man, and may see an admission of error as bad for business. bottom line, i see why it's such a big deal. people get it wrong sometimes. there is no reason for people to get soo worked up over this, really. and uh, 95% of all premium articles on b-talk are fighter interviews made by greg himself. michael katz, when he still worked for the site, was the only guy who regularly had a portion of his articles locked to members. i am in agreement that he should pay his writers, it is a lucrative site after all, but hey, if you don't find the perks too appealing then i'm sure there are plenty sites out there that would better compensate you for your work.
