This fight was talked about in '81 while Page was still promoted by Butch Lewis. The result of this fight would depend on the style Page decided to use and his condition. If he comes in at 235 plus lbs. and stands in front of ****ey, ****ey stops him. If Page comes in at below 230 lbs and moves and boxes, he could certainly win a decision over the plodding Irishman.

If Page comes in under 225, and over 218, not only he beats ****ey, he stops him.Worse than Holmes did.

I'm not sure why coming in at "under 230" would give Page a better edge. His career trend shows that he actually won more of his bigger fights when he was OVER 230 or right around, than when he was under... The only fights where there was an exception was the Snipes and Monroe bouts. That said, I'm not sure if I can comfortably favor him to win against too many top heavyweights. He was simply too inconsistent. He barely got by George chaplin twice. Lost to trevor Berbick. Was beaten by lesser opponents in David Bey, Mark Wills and an aging Bugner. His win over Coetzee was big but Gerrie had been inactive for sometime and was having career problems. And if the proposed time frame for a fight with Co-ney was 1981, then how many fights would Greg really have had by that point? maybe 16 or 17? I might have to favor Co-ney.

In this particular matchup it is imperative Page come in at below 230 lbs because he would have to move and box to beat ****ey. He simply couldn't do that effectively when his weight ballooned. He was fat and plodding against Chaplin. He many have been too light (220) against Berbick. 225-230 seemed his best weight.

I think there was probably some circumstances around the time of the Berbick fight that led to him losing, in part political.Once Berbick went to his body hard in the second, in addition to him breaking his thumb, that was a wrap for Greg.He implied in an interview what do to if you fought ****ey, and if anyone at that time period would lay ****ey low out of all the contenders, it's Greg Page.

Page might have been inconsistent, but his beat work was a class above C00ney's.

He should be the betting favourite here.

I'll bet Larry Holmes would pick ****ey in this fight.

It would only take several of Gerry's hooks to the body to decide the bout, even when in shape Greg never looked strong in the midsection.

****ey can't knock out what he can't hit.
