Folks, I'm in my Greg Page fight review process right now. All in all, most will agree he was a talented boxer who wasted a lot of his talent by being a lazy slob at crucial times during his career. Still, be as that may be true, Page could box well when motivated... Now, we all know he suffered a dozen or more losses by the time he was 43 or so and getting parked by Dale Crowe in 2001, and he had been KO'd several times already as well, but how do you all out there in ESB Land rate Page's overall chin.?.? Could Greg Page take a wicked shot ot not? MR.BILL:huh:bbb:hat
Onna the Louisville writers who saw everything from the beginning said hes dad always forced him to box. He preferred B ball. Makes sense
How was Greg Page in his amateur career. He did fight some good Cuban Heavyweights without flinching. One problem, he took punches flush. Never mastered the slip and roll.
Just how the **** did Page secure his WBA title shot against Gerrie Coetzee to close out 1984? :huh Page lost earlier in 1984 to "Spoon and Bey.":deal MR.BILL:hat
David Bey refused to go to Sun City,,,,,,apartheid. David Bey was the legitimate #1 contender, but would not accept the fight and go against his principles. Greg Page accepted, as a replacement.
That's what I figured... At least guys like "Weaver & Page" saw the light and went to South Africa because the pay was good there... Weaver collected 2.2 million by kayoing Coetzee in 13 rds back in 1981... I'm not sure what Page earned as a challenger in 1984, but it had to be decent, plus a chance to get the title made it viable to fly over there... MR.BILL:good
The move by Greg Page, to go over to South Africa was a God Send. It saved his floundering career, at least for awhile. A badly managed and poorly motivated fighter.
Go watch page/ruddock............. He took bombs from razor and never went dowwn.....so he had a very good chin
