OK, so I think it was either Sunday or Monday I felt my knuckle was starting to bruise, but as I am training for a fight I just ignored it and carried on with my twice a day routines, hitting the bag, shadow boxing, sparring, etc.

Then yesterday I couldn't even put my hand wraps on. Thinking 'Oh ****', I began to look at the injury properly for the first time. There is no bruising or anything, but if I put my finger on top of the knuckle and open / close my finger it feels as though there are small vibrations on the bone, like a grinding / rubbing sensation.

I showed my instructor and he said it could be ligiment / bone damage or something... Freaked me out because I have 3 fights scheduled before the end of the year... was wondering if anyone knew what this griding feeling is!?

It can be many things. It can be just as simple as joint stress. That happens to me many times with my knuckles and knees. Its usually just stressed joints. Rest takes care of it for me. I am not a doctor though.

Inflamation in the joints most likely.....if not that then you have the hands and joints of a senior citizen and your cartiledge is worn and its bone on bone which is very painful.

it's just from swelling. It will go away if you give it time to heal.

Thanks guys, feel better now, it actually hurts much less after I've trained (just ran for 30 minutes, did 20 minutes of weights and 30 minutes of shadow boxing).

I still feel the weird grinding sensation, but you are probably right about it being an inflamation :)

Take some motrin/ibprofin it's good for inflamation..Which is what I'm guessing you have.

Cool, took some IBProfin as you recommended last night and when I woke up although the grinding feeling is still there, there isn't really any pain unless I apply a fair ammount of pressure.

I was able to use the speed bag and very light punch bag today :) As well as grip weights properly... Thanks again because I was freaking out ;)

I have my rest day tomorrow, so I reckon by Sunday evening I'll be ready to go properly again :D
