Grip training

    I don't agree. Like I've said a few times, when you punch there should be a straight line from your elbow to your wrist through to your knuckles, simple as that. It's aligning bones for a solid punch. Tensing your fist harder would not affect this as it has nothing to do with the alignment, that is of course unless you hand suddenly weighs more when you tense your fist but I doubt that...

    If this is the case (which it is) explain how tensing your fist harder will help at all. Your previous ideas do not apply to what I've said.

    the fat that moves in your forearm when you hit something makes a punch softer by taking energy to move.

    by tensing your fist you make your fore arm wrist and hand much more solid, this is why your supposed to make the fist at impact as the instant tensing of the arm not only creates ideal follow through but it also makes the fore arm wrist and hand harder.

    What you are doing is regurgitating the stuff youve read on other posts i said this earlier in this thread i train my hands/forearms using farmers walks for the same reason to strengthen the tendons in the hand to help protect my damaged hand which should result in a harder object to hit with which is good but if you slow down a brick breaking demonstration you will soon see this is a load of bollocks and theres a limit, no matter how strong the hands/forearms are they Will conform to a more solid shape, muscle cant beat concrete. brick breakers are successful because of proper bone allignment and accuracy, the hand gives away like jelly (watch a brick breaking comp, slow it down and watch their hands squish and conform to the shape of the surfaces they strike, you will be shocked). however i still do farmers walks myself because it just makes me feel better in myself knowing i do some work to keep my weak hand strong.

    however the strength of the wrist does not contribute the same as good technique and accuracy with proper bone allignment, if technique is poor not using proper bone structure alignment to bear the force your body is applying behind it then yes in this case, a case of poor technique maybe, a little wrist strength will possibly help but your still going to get injured because your wrist cant handle the full force of a good shot behind it, doesnt matter what extent you train them to. this is my last post on this thread it has wasted enough of my time, you will never progress ylem because your never willing to listen to other peoples idea's we are all still learning all the time.

    ill sum it up for you

    "punching with proper technique is better then punching with out proper technique."

    well thats great it dosnt say anything about forearms and its relation to some one who already knows proper technique but thats just great.

    its you that will never evolve because you simply cant accept an idea like forearm strengthening can improve a boxer.

    an intelligent person would simply say maybe i was wrong and a strong forearm can make an already good boxer better.

    no i guess an intelligent person wouldnt be arguing with ******s that dont know **** about boxing.

    your absolutely correct....i see the light and there is no reason to train grip strength or take up rock climbing for an active rest day.

    And thats why i said we have to wear hand wraps because when it comes to hitting a moving target mistakes are made.

    i dont agree with you saying you cant use proper bone alignment, good technique is based on this, maybe an explanation on the way you use technique to punch would reveal what you mean? it would give us an idea of where your coming from? i find it hard to imagine punching any other way than having the elbow inline, otherwise your just flaring the elbow? which is wrong for obveous reasons and obveousely the force will find somewhere to escape if it can and in a case like that it will probably be the elbow and or wrist depends on a lot of things, a wise man once said to me punch like you dont have wrists and thats what i do, to punch any other way i believe that the punch can only be as strong as the wrist will allow.

    And ylem yes if u was bright enough i could have just said strong wrists and poor technique dont compare to good technique, however you dont seem to understand very much so i thought i would try to explain, your now saying good technique and strong wrists which was not the arguement, you was complaining of wrist injuries and telling of rolling your wrist which is usually the case of a very basic mistake in technique, therefore i was explaining how you, with apparently less than ideal technique with strong forarms cant compare to a fighter with good technique and average forarms, that was my point. stop ****ing about with your wrists and learn better punching technique, wow the extentive had to dumb down that 1 single post... i wish i never bothered trying to help you now. and ill do my best to try and help anyone.

    and now it seems your trying to claim this guy dosnt know how to punch either....

    and then you claim your entire argument is based off what a "wise man once said to you"

    im still waiting on how to throw this amazing perfectly alinged punch too.....or is the secret to this amazing punch to punch like you dont have a wrist?

    do you even understand this? the guys saying dont whip your wrist when you punch you dont whip your wrist your fore arm or your bicep. power gets to the shoulder and goes straight out with every segment moving faster then the one berfore it so there is no lag, no snap prior to completing the punch. hes not saying that a proper punch is perfectly alinged and the wrist is useless.

    grip training can make a good boxer better.

    oh wait thats right an intelligent person dosnt spend hours argueing with idiots.......you of course are right and im wrong, the forearm is a worthless muscle to a boxer and strengthening it would only be a complete waste of time.

    No, it can't.

    It can make a boxers hands and forearms stronger, and perhaps help in preventing injury, but it's not going to make a better boxer out of someone.
