    He probably did. He saw the tough competition rising around.

    I think he would of handled gvozdyk and bivol

    Its just wards style was terrible and suited Beterbievs..

    If ward wanted to reach higher heights

    He would of had to of gone through Beterbiev. Usyk or some heavyweight

    Yeah most definitely he wasn't even on what you would call a decline. But I mean fighting Joshua or Tony Bellew was going to do nothing to silence his detractors which was who he was linked with. Beterbiev and the likes make no money so I guess I could see the thought process in retiring.

    Ward clean out supermiddleweight of his time.. GREAT accomplishment.
    Wenrmt up a weight class up and went 1-1 to fight the monster Crusher. Admirable !!! But the first fight he CLEARLY lost.
    And the second fight he WON but there's a controversy with the ending..nonetheless the fight he would have won and certainly performed better than Kovalev.
    HOF and ATG super middleweight for certain..

    I'm not saying he's not to be considered fighter of the decade's candidate.. he should
    But how is that accomplishment different from Usyk who cleaned up cruiserweight and now campaigning at heavyweight..
