Groves and Degale - will they prove to be frauds?

Lets face it.. Froch would crush em all Calzaghe/Ward if they fought.. and Groves/DeGale on top of them.

I'm not hugely invested in it (so am not certain), but I think Groves is in danger of selling himself short and doing an "Audley". A figure of speech rather than a direct comparison.

My concern for George is that he seems so absolutely determined to forge his own path that I can see him falling foul of too many promoters, matchmakers, coaches. Too few friends and too little goodwill is never a good thing, and the overhead of fighting a lot of running battles takes a toll on every human being. I've seen it written he manages other fighters etc.

DeGale has taken his licks and come through to win a title. Hats off.

To call either a 'fraud' is stupid, and not just because of any achievements they may have. It's just the sort of bone-headed label applied by people who have zero clue of what it takes to get remotely near the top of any athletic profession - never mind one where you smack eachother around the head for a living. Neither are frauds.

Degale is hardly a fraud. He's a world champion. George Groves will over come Jack so this thread is absolutely pointless.

I doubt they'll ever achieve the heights of Calzaghe, but I do think they could achieve the same as the rest... I honestly do, what people have to remember is that there is a strong chance that these two can unify the division , Ward will go up to light heavy , Abraham will retire before long... These two will be around for a good while. For once it's a good time to be a 168fighter on the verge

 

As much as the ginger home alone boy hates froch, i think in years to come he will be most grateful of the biggest payout he will ever get came from the cobra

 

I'm sure i read somewhere Ward will fight Golovkin at sm? Does Ward do sm easily enough weight-wise? (clearly a lot easier than Paul "tactically fat" Smith did in wards return but that aside!) Wards lost a lot of time and will be looking for money fights, sm is clearly the best division for this as even the fact he brings little to the table by way of fans/revenue won't stop him earning big, Groves, Degale maybe even Murray are potential fights & Callum Smith and/or Fielding later on, S.O.G would probably have to travel abroad at least once which might be a problem. As for Murray (one tough fella), too tough for his own good at times but he's far too good to be talked about as fodder for Degale etc (on another thread), especially when he's proved he can take far more punishment than JDG or GG would inflict & is probably capable of hurting either, personally I'd love to see Eddie try making Murray v Abraham for the wbo setting up some great domestic unifications.

 

Meh, I don't rate Calzaghe so high due to his level of comp. Froch found his ceiling against Ward but has the more memorable fights between himself and Calzaghe IMO.
Personally, I reckon the talent of DeGale eclipses them both and he will go on to beat the best in the division. Groves isn't on the same page frankly and never will be after being "Cobra'd".

 

no idea who badou jack is but wouldnt be surprised if he gets KOd he's been fighting like hes aged 10 years since the Froch beatings.

as for Defail..he will never be elite, just not good enough. degale vs groves 2 wold be a similar non event to cleverly vs bellew 2

 

Groves is a fraud clearly he has cobra'd symptoms.. his chin and stamina are defo a problem thats a fact now now more discussion needed.. if ge hadnt of faced froch maybe he would have been good...But those froch fights are the last we saw of the best george groves, hes shot now
