Really like Groves. A good boxer, very entertaining to watch. Improving all the time, hopefully his cut heals soon and we can see a rematch against Anderson.

Groves is my favourite British fighter next to Froch, he has the right attitude to the game and the talent to back it up. I thought he put on a great performance against Sierra what with the ****.

I've never really had that much interest in DeGale past his first couple of fights, seemed a bit spoiled by all the money and attention that was thrown to him when he turned pro.

    :rofl:rofl

Freudian slip I guess. Meant "cut", haha

In saying that, there was a bit of the David Haye in Groves performance last night with that sticking his chin out ambush style he tried. That's not to be encouraged in my opinion.

The commentators on the Groves fight said something along the lines of. "Adam Booth has been saying Groves is still very much a work in progress, we are not planning to rush him in to quickly"

Wise words but surprising seeing as they were gonna stick him in with Steiglitz.

I was quite impressed with Groves last night, notable head movement improvement, & he showed some nice feints. Still has the same flaws though, dropping his hands & hanging his chin out there.

He also stopped moving his head after a few rounds which is a worry.

    World class finish though.

Agreed, it's alright if you have the reflexes to go with it but i'm not sure Groves has.I think it would serve him well to adopt a higher guard.

I think he can adapt with his guard, he adopted a higher guard against Degale. Against Sierra, I think he realised quite early on he had the speed advantage and he wasn't being pressured to much.

DeGale wins this one. Much too technical and slick for the limited Groves.

Groves is the future. Great fighter, with superb boxing brain, shame about his promoter.

He said after the fight to the camera 'we love it in California, please invite us back'. Can see him fighting with Golden boy in the states more often now and only fighting in the UK for mandatory opposition and trying to make a name in the US, especially after he seemed to impress some golden boy top dogs.

Groves Sierra was a fun fight to watch and what a finish. What's not to like about Groves? He seems like a good guy and is a decent fighter. DeGale pitched himself all wrong against Groves and is probably always going to struggle now because of it. He won that Gold four years ago and he hasn't really been able to get himself properly in the mix, even though he has a couple of years on Groves. I know it's early days but I think he's a fighter who will struggle with his loss, and I suspect that he's the type of guy who relies on confidence and, once beaten, is more likely to be beaten again.

DeGale brought 10% more out of Groves on fight night simply by being a ***** in the build up. Had DeGale been respectful-ish in the build up then he'd probably have won.

DeGale needs to learn how to punch properly, won't go very far at all.
