I personally think that there is still more to come from George Groves!! Watching it live at the venue the concencous from even the American fans was that George nicked the fight.

I really do think that if he continues then he really does need to get rid of Paddy, I really don't think he has George's best interests at heart, my brother was speaking to George's cousin before the fight and he was worried that the training camp of over 16 weeks was going to show in the fight and imo it did, George's boxing was still there but his explosiveness just wasn't there. George was given this fight with a later date when in training for another fight and they accepted it, imo Paddy should have either spoke with George about refusing the bout at that time or at the very least eased up a bit to keep him fresher for the change in dates.

Imo George needs a long break and to go try out a couple of coaches that might help him, I've seen that Billy Nelson is keen but personally I don't think that would be a good fit but you can't argue with his resume! Same as I don't think that Joe Gallagher would be a good fit.

Shane McGuigan, Oliver Harrison would be my picks if he really can't get past his differences with Adam Booth and wants to stay in the UK, Virgil Hunter or even Freddy Roach if he wanted to go stateside.

Virgil would be able to steady him up and help him with the basics, Freddy on the other hand would really get him using his explosiveness to the max and George wouldn't need to change that much to work with him!!

I'd love to see Groves go with Shane McGuigan, but I couldn't see Groves ego taking advice from a younger guy.

But I do think it'd be a great fit if Groves could get over the age gap.

McGuigan is wise beyond his years and gets his fighters in quite frankly amazing condition. Something Groves could really benefit from

so if its the trainers fault when groves losses does the trainer get the credit when groves wins?

The degale win was (rightly IMO) credited to booths tactics

he lost to a better fighter in Froch and lost to a underrated champion in an away fight against Jack. groves wouldn't have beaten either with a different trainer its excuse making he just wasn't good enough.

Cant see McGuigan or Harrison training Groves, McGuigan is solely focused on Frampton. Harrison is a non starter with Rocky and MM surely cant have 3 fighters who are all SM. conflict of interests. Freddy Roach maybe if Groves go state side.

How about Dave Caldwell ? Booth and Groves would be a perfect fit but with the fall out from Froch Groves just cant see it.

The more I think about going to US would be a fresh start for GG only stumbling block would be Sauerland

    Brilliant game-plan, too.

Get the counter-puncher to become the aggressor! Degale was so far gone in the later rounds in terms of frustration, that he was desperately trying to claw it back.

Paddy has no record of coaching pros whatsoever. What world champions has he ever trained? His gym is a tiny hovel. Groves made a massive mistake by hastily signing up with this berk in the wake of the booth breakup. That it's taken him this long to realise the error of his ways is no surprise as I think things were extremely comfortable and cosy under paddy. Groves needs a trainer who can take charge and wake him the fk up otherwise he's done.

Biggest mistake he made was splitting with Booth at such a crucial time of his boxing career. In my opinion he would have been world champion under Booth and went so close to it in his first fight against Froch. He should have stuck it with Booth for at least 2-3 years, then split and find another suitable coach. He was too ****y for his own good and paid for it.

Still a good boxer and can make a return, but he needs to tone down his ego and concentrate on fixing his issues.

I'm a fan of Froch (in the ring) but Groves should have beaten him in that first fight, if advised properly to pace himself. He out-boxed and out worked him for the majority of the fight and it should have been a UD. Again, his c0ckyness got the best of him and Froch made him pay. Any top coach would have made sure he paced himself properly and not take any silly risks late on. He needs someone better to rein him in.

What makes everybody so sure that Booth would actually take him back?

I really do feel that this loss is being massively blown out of proportion. The way people are talking it sounds as if he got dominated throughout and brutally KO'd.
He lost a very close fight that could of gone either way against a solid world champion, so what? Groves should just take a short break and continue his excellent career, in my opinion he will win a world title one day.

Well said. Not sure how talking about the emotional state of Groves' wife does anybody any good either.

Paddy is a complete cowboy, and he landed lucky getting Groves and landing himself a few good paydays.
