Just seen the first six rounds. People need to stop with the hes been cobra,d. Groves has always been vulnerable. I actually still fancy groves to beat degale giving a fair shake. But he really needs to assess his fight plan. He has both chin and stamina issues. But can it be fixed...i m not sure. I think some of his problems is in his jab using it as a power punch trying to hurt people with it. Instead of using it as a range finder, to keep distance etc. Exerting too much energy throwing it. I get the feeling groves would get tired anyway...its like a nervous energy...even without his high output etc tho. Needs to also vary the power in his punches. Groves would knock a lot of people out and become a much better fighter if he did. He throws every punch with full power its an entertaining style to watch but it does come with its own problems. People know hes gonna throw a power shot at them its a lot easier to prepare if you know its coming rather than if he mixed it up. Needs to get back to boxing first and foremost stop trying to knock people out with one or two punches.

Bit of a hypocrite because i m sure i was on here after the first froch fight giving the exact opposite advice saying groves should put everything into it like the froch 1 fight because not a lot of people would be able to take it. But in hindsight especially watching that fight last night...its pretty clear to see he needs to vary it up and stop using the jab to hurt people. Got an excellent jab groves but if its using up too much energy it quickly becomes a negative. Touch him touch him then power punch. George is power punch power punch power punch. Its became too predictable especially at the level hes fighting at now. He has flaws outwith yhat but he also has massive assets as well. I say he beats degale if he changes that up. I actually think hearn signed up the wrong one with degale out of the two. In terms of entertainment. With the right fights and promotion around groves he could have been massive. Think froch was right about groves tho a little too vunerable to be a great world champion. As in reigning for years.

Excellent points. Some great posts in this thread.

I hope Jack goes on to prove himself a good champion. Think George did enough at least for a draw so nothing to be ashamed of last night. He really needs to pace rounds better. Floyd could do a great job with him!
