It's not like Booth is a stupid man. He knows exactly what it will take to beat Degale. And he'll have Groves working precisely on what he needs to do.

On the flip side you can't exactly underestimate McDonnell and what he'll be working on. We're all agreed that De Gale is an idiot but let's not get away from the guy's ability. I fully respect Groves trenchwork recently but his discipline worries me. I'm pushing for him to win but for me he needs to fight the perfect fight to win and not put a foot wrong.

I just can't see De Gale, in that split second, not exposing a mistake by Groves and capitalising on it. For George to get James he'll never outbox him he's got to go after him. Something that will play right into De Gale's hands.

Where's Mandanda - I'm sure he's got an I love DeGale opinion on this.

Groves has a awful defence. He uses a hands down style but his reflexes arent that good.

A lot of people letting their hearts rule their heads here. No X's and O's just "Degale is a knob". Tells me everything.

yep,i see it as groves is better than people think,he has good power, decent speed and can box quite nicely when he focuses and follows a game plan.

degale is over rated, hes beaten up slow sluggers of domestic level,he trys to be slick, but isnt all that hard to hit,and he slaps/paws his shots.

Groves and his camp are realistic, they evaluate his strengths and weaknesses, work on his bad parts and improves them, uses his strengths to his best use aswell.

him sparring world class direll will really get him improved to a higher level with leaps in improvement with his boxing ability.

I'd say the degale fans are just as guilty of lazy analysis. Which tells me plenty too. If groves had knocked Anderson out in the first round plenty would be singing his praises.

yup, i like both fighters but groves more so but you can't deny degale's skills, but on the flipside while adam booth and david haye know groves' flaws and are not afraid to tell him about it degale on the other hand has a legion of yes men who loves being told how good he is.

For me I want Groves to win but am not anti DeGale I don't think he is anywhere near as bad as he can sometimes appear. His problem I think is confidence and trying to be something he is not and also to a certain degree is down to the whole rap persona(please don't make this out to be racist there are plenty of white kids acting the same).
As far as the boxing goes the overrating of James and underrating of George is crazy yes James has the skills but does he have the heart and toughness required(I think he does) Can George learn from his mistakes? can he fight to a plan?(also I think yes and whatever people think of Booth getting a fighter to stick to a plan is one of his talents)
We should be celebrating the fact that 2 top prospects are fighting I can't wait for fight night and cannot remember the last time I was so stoked about a fight.

My heart says George and brain says James.

DeGale on points but a hell of a lot closer than some think they will also both win world titles:good

Well, it's definitely more rampant and noticable among the Groves fans or shall i say Degale haters. Just look at this thread.

I agree totally, other than it being a knockout. I think too many are overating Degale and underestimating Groves. Groves cant be that bad if he can school a Commenwealth champ who took Froch 12 rds.
Also theres one thing that Degale has not had which Groves has had and that is Degale has not had to face adversity in the ring. Groves has had too and came through it against Anderson, Groves error was he pulled back from punches rather than stick his guard up and step back a bit similar to what khan did wrong in the Maidana fight. But Groves came through with powerful body shots to stop Anderson.
Groves has a good reach, and punches fast, i`d be telling him to jab and step back and do it frequently and not give Degale the thinking time he needs. Still i see it as a 50/50 fight.
