It seems fairly inevitable that for at least the near future, Groves and Degale's careers are intrinsically linked. you will rarely see one mentioned without the other and seeing as the first fight was so close, debate will always rage about who is better.

Personally, i don't see the point in the fight taking place now. Both guys have a lot to learn and given the right marketing, the rematch will be huge - the first was a big deal, the second could generate millions.

So, presuming that they both keep winning, when would you like to see the Groves and Degale rematch take place?

I don’t care for it. Groves beat him twice already and I don’t consider the result controversial. The only people that do are the ones who were bigging DeGale up despite no evidence to justify it.

If it has to happen, let’s have both with world titles so it means something historically as well as personally. And finally – it wasn’t a great fight. Tactically interesting, but hardly exciting. A rematch would be the same.

In around 12/18 months, depending on what level both are operating at. I think Groves has potential to fight at world level once the bulk of the Super 6 move on.

Last fight was razor-close but I think Groves is improving at a faster rate now.

I would prefer to see this in 2014 but I can not see us having to wait that long.

Doesn't Groves have final say on opponent i.e. ****** can't force the rematch on him?

Fwank would have to pay massive bucks for it anytime soon.

I think that's pretty fair. You can make an argument for either guy winning it by a round or a draw, IMO - that is by no shades a robbery. It was a close fight.

Some of DeGale's biggest fans claimed it because they were a little embarrassed they’d made such crazy claims. We still see the regular “DeGale has more potential” posts even though he looked very much like he’d found his level against the Pole (who again, got stopped by Curtis Stevens, who is complete dog****).

I'm tried of reading "That was the best of Groves against the worst of DeGale - really it just looked like the DeGale I'd been critical of from the start of his career."

People spunked their load because he beat Paul Smith. Groves just destroyed the same guy in much more impressive fashion, that's undeniable. But he's not getting the same level of spunk.

That pretty much tells you everything you need to know about DeGale's fans.

Groves vs Degale, Unification Interim WBA and Interim WBO titles.

  11. When did we begin to take into account amatuer results?

Groves has beaten Degale ONCE. It was a very close fight and a re-match is more than justified.

So we ignore Degale's gold medal then?

It’s worth nothing right now though. If DeGale beats Groves it just sets up another ****ing rematch. If Groves beats DeGale again it effectively stops DeGale’s progress dead. It’s a monumentally bad idea all for the sake of a fight that wasn’t even that good in the first place.

Better to let both guys build up into decent attractions (something James is struggling to do) and let them fight down the line when it really means something. I’m tired of hearing DeGale saying “I deserve my revenge.” You should have won it the first time round then, shouldn’t you, you moron!

As the other poster says, DeGale’s hype is still largely resting on that Olympic Gold medal. Take it away and I bet anything no one would be coming all over his name.

I think it should happen late 2013. Both have 2 years to improve and it will make for a better fight. Groves>>>Degale Chunky will get rushed in his career and suffer a defeat in the next 12 months. Groves will be more patient because he is 2 years younger.
