The problem eubank had last night was groves was better than him on the outside. We all knew that going in. But the biggest problem he had was groves was also stronger on the inside than him as well. People think the main problem was getting inside....it was a problem. But the far bigger problem was he realized early getting inside didn't really give him the advantage anyway.

Froch had the same problems with groves on the outside. Was stronger on the inside tho. But if froch had gave up eight pounds and groves was stronger on the inside than him. He,d have beat froch comfortably as well.

The eight pounds was too big a gap too bridge for eubank. He,d have negated groves vast technical advantages...if they we,re naturally the same weight for me. Turned out an easy nights work for groves in the end. Could beat him on the outside. Was stronger than him on the inside.

That fight totally changes if eubank was stronger than him on the inside tho. He just wasn,t cause he's a middleweight and groves is a very big super middle. Eubank will be over a lot of middleweights tho. Just a pity for him the middleweight divisions a nitemare division atm. Eubank will beat guys technically better than him.

Absolutely. Not only that he was landing the harder shots and Groves looked every bit as fit as Chris 'I love a Breather' Eubanks.

People amaze me. What the hell do people want. He completely dominated him from start to finish. I think Eubank's crudeness and his head rushing into Groves' midrift and his just basic lack of any boxing ability made it very hard for Groves to land anything clean enough to ko him properly. Despite this he still dropped him at least twice. In that last round Groves still landed as good shots as Eubank which says it all really.

The cut was because of Eubank's clumsy approach and it didn't effect his vision until a lot later. Anyway I've never seen anyone to be allowed so much Vaseline on a cut in my life.

He never nearly won in any shape or form he's been proved to be what he is, an absolute phoney who along with his dad talk absolute shite. Give the actual winner and talented boxer credit.

A couple of things I noticed last night that have hardly been touched on.

Eubank is not anywhere near as fit as is made out. Yes he's fit but didn't look fitter than Groves, let's face it he hardly done anything in 1st 7 rounds so not surprising he had a strong finish.

The other thing is yes he has a good chin but is it as good as is made out ? I think not as he was scared to commit as Groves was hurting him and he could sense bring knocked out.

The twice he's stepped up to world level he's been beat and hardly done a thing in first half of fight. What other reason than knowing your stamina isn't Froch and Calzaghe esk is there ? Twenty mentioned if matched right he's entertaining, totslly correct. So I to hope his hype dies down so I can enjoy him again. He was a perfect fighter for being on AJs undercards.

That’s why they have weight divisions bud, to stop mismatches. Junior and his team knew there would be a significant weight difference. Many pundits (and bookies) strangely dismissed it.

That said, it was boxing fundamentals that separated them last night, not weight difference. If Eubank is gonna blame weight difference then just like the BJS fight (and Booth), he’s going to learn nothing from defeat. He was the same size if not bigger than them opponents but his footwork and mediocre jab were exposed.

To step up in weight you have to have exceptional skills. Work rate, solid chin, athleticism and posturing just don’t cut it.

I don't totally 100 percent agree with it being technical ability that was the main factor in groves winning the fight. I know that the vast majority of people will agree with you on that tho mate. Because watching it...it was clear groves was technically better and he used his technical advantages to win the fight. Agree. But it wasn't the deciding factor for me.

Everyone knew he was technically much better than eubank going in. Eubank wasn't gonna ever get success with groves on the outside. Even eubanks biggest fans knew that. He was gonna win it on the inside. Turns out groves was a lot stronger than him on the inside with the weight advantage. Left eubank in no mans land. Not good enough on the outside...not strong enough on the inside.

He was forced to fight on the outside....groves done not too bad keeping him on the outside but the thing people dont factor in is eubank knew from early groves was stronger on the inside. It was just as much about eubank knowing the inside wasn't a good place to be....than groves not letting him on the inside.

Eubank would have got knocked out on the inside. The weight was too much. It was a case of get knocked out on the inside or get a technical lesson on the outside. Eubank done the only thing he knew gave it a go inside...but he was discouraged from getting inside by groves by knowing he was stronger on the inside.

That fight was comfortable for groves last night. You make eubank the stronger man on the inside....it then becomes a serious fight. Without that you,ve no chance.

Essentially you are right tho...groves beat him all ways up and used his technical ability to do it. But the weight nullified eubank more than the technical ability. Groves is technically better than froch...and jack. They both still managed to beat him. The difference was they we,re a match for groves on the inside. Without having that...gro ves will technically beat you.

I really enjoy all Groves and Eubank fights, so was comfortable with whatever outcome. Eubank does one thing at elite level - a serial killer impersonation. The cold menace in the ring after his wins, and confidence in interviews are quite something. It's difficult to believe, in the face of elite level self-belief, that it is not underpinned by something 'real'. Eubank made a believer out of me too, but I called it wrong.
I thought he would beat Groves, but I didn't see a close fight - I thought it was pretty much a shut-out to Groves. Some people are saying it was close, but I see it differently. No matter how good you are, if your opponent flails forward in an unskilled way, hell for leather, consequences-be-damned, then the fight takes on the quality of a shootout. What people perceive as 'being close' is just the uncertainty principle introduced by one very fit, elite confidence, decent chinned Euro-level fighter throwing hail mary punches and praying.
I thought Groves did exactly what he said he would do last night - showed that there are levels. He dealt with the pressure on him. Eubank did not.

Eubank looked knackered from the first bell onwards. Over-trained? Maybe, but that wouldn't explain his total lack of any accuracy in his punches. A totally amateur performance. No strategy at all.

Both him and his old man have that fairly unique combination of staggering arrogance and utter stupidity. A pair of pseudo intellectuals that can eloquently rhyme off pre-rehearsed doggerel but couldn't find their own arses with both hands in the dark. He'll stupidly carry on the same routine from here, and get outwitted time and again by punch drunk simpletons.

No one's mentioned it but he was quite tense also, Groves relaxed pretty quickly but Eubank was tentative, which is to be expected but he wasn't relaxed.

Yes but if you say that you are detracting from groves win aren't you? On that basis groves beat nothing, yes?

Yeah, fair enough. Groves had a plan to keep him at distance and it worked because Eubank couldn't be bothered to have any strategy of his own and had gassed by the time he got to the ring. GG was disciplined without being spectacular and had figured out CE chapter and verse. The few times CE got inside GG bobbed, weaved, and tied him up. Defensively very sound from Groves.

CE has learned nothing from his loss to BJS. He's actually regressed. He should have been out the traps quickly and looked to get a couple of rounds in the bank early. He didn't, and despite all be bravado I think he bottled it, again. Froze on the big stage.

Len you are totally clutching at straws. GG totally schooled Eubank last night and fought the perfect fight. You talk about the injury costing him dear. An injury like that could cost any boxer dear. Other than the cut that wasn't even running into his eye that badly until late on what else went wrong for CEJ?

Groves jab was the key weapon , he does have an elite level jab , Eubank had no answer to it , the timing speed and rhythm of Groves jab was the difference in this fight.

The jab was good for scoring, setting up his own shots & maintaining distance. Eubank looked clueless against it. A bit of savvy to bait with you're own jab, draw the lead & slip & counter, or slip & step in. Some feints, anything. Jnr was so poor.
