Was brilliant- absolute credit to Paddy Fitzpatrick.

Mentally Groves wore down Froch the majority of the fight, and arguably pre-fight as well and it was this that made Groves so successful for most of tonight.

Froch is a confidence fighter- always (even self-admitted) gets very nervous before fights, but usually gets into the fights and gains confidence as he goes through the fight, but Groves didn't allow him to.

First round marched straight to the centre and put Carl on the back foot- something Carl clearly didn't expect and it disrupted his rhythm and as he pawed out the jab- Groves hit him with two huge shots to knock him down.

Throughout the rest of the fight Groves kept this mindset on Carl and frustrated him fully. At the end of every exchange, Groves would grab and push Carl back onto the ropes and every time they broke Froch would be looking at the corner and wacking his gloves together to try and gee something up in himself.

It's a shame we didn't get a proper conclusion to the fight, to his credit Froch did land the big shot as Groves tired, but we've seen Groves hurt and in trouble before (arguably more hurt against Anderson), but unfortunately we didn't get a chance to see if he could recover.

All in all great fight between two great British fighters- just a shame about the ending.

(Apologies if this was all bollocks btw, very tired and just doing things from memory!) :bbb:bbb

    good post.

it would take one heartless man not to feel for George after that robbery tonight.

He was so emotional after it, and you're right. His trainer deserves a hell of a lot of credit for tonight.

He had to answer some silly stupid questions from the media throughout the whole run up and he's even been undermined with all the. "Will Adam be in the corner on fight night".

What a load of shite. I thought Paddy carried himself with great dignity througbout the whole campaign, and he was even there at the end, while Froch was rabbiting on about god knows what, whispering in Georges ear. He was keeping George calm and dignified. That was classy stuff that. He should be proud of the work he did, and of his fighter tonight.

they may not have the victory ,but they have the moral victory.

Groves did everything that we didn't expect. Walked to the centre of the ring and ****ing bullied Carl. For a man with a supposed granite chin it was amazing. Such a shame how it ended.

It was good gameplan exploiting frochs weaknesses.... BUT didnt like him mixing it so much especially later on when carl was loading up late on.... Going for the kitchen sink punches... He should never have got caught with some of those in the 9th that set off the final tirade.

Groves will dominate and possiblY stop froch if he can control himself a bit more... Thats the difference between an andrew ward and george groves.... Groves is more excititng but gives opportunities when he should... Ward will do whatever he needs to win regardless if its ugly
