groves has so much more to lose than froch

if gg's level is losing to froch, he's lost nothing. but he can forge a good career either way, froch presents a pretty unique challenge.

 

Not really. Why should this fight be anything like the first? Froch will be entirely different, whether that's due to 'battle fatgue' and that he can't withstand the early pressure or whether he's learned from the first encounter and is now better trained/prepared. Either way, this will be different form the first fight, can't see Froch going down in the 1st for sure!

Groves is being massively over-rated for what, getting beaten the funk up?!? Let's not forget, it's not like Froch was staggering around, the ref. helping him and the break in rounds coming at opportune times. The man's got a SOLID chin! Groves definitely hasn't. That gives Froch a HUGE advantage esp. in front of 80,000!

Chins exist. Froch to win again.....whether Groves is the 'better boxer' or not.

Groves was taken in by his own hype to demand a re-match, silly move. His stock was high after the 1st fight and he could have played on the controversial stoppage to his advantage but there'll be no doing that now...

Every fighter should look to avenge thier loss IMO straight off the bat unless it was a clear beat down. We don't need anymore Amir khans running away from ****.

 

I consider the fight 50/50................nobody knows who will win the fight and that's what makes it so interesting.

 

But you have to wonder how much the last fight has taken out of Froch. He took some serious punishment. I disagree with you, Groves' chin is solid and let's not forget he did exchange with Froch throughout the fight and took some good shots. Groves' speed is a big factor. Groves showed he's a big puncher too and had him on his back in the first round. I expect him to put Froch on his back again.

Why was he beaten to a standstill then??? Why did he show a lack of stamina/pacing?? Why would you think he survives the 'championship rounds' against Froch??? Don't see the logic of anyone picking or hyping Groves since a) He's not the best competition Froch has already beaten and b) He's already given his best and it wasn't good enough.

Respect to Groves but this is a style match-up he ain't winning.

 

Groves definitely has to work on his stamina as that was his main weak link in the last fight and that led to the **** stoppage. Credit to Froch, he fought back in the championship rounds and landed some good shots on Groves pushing him back but it was not a right stoppage.

Groves has it to beat Froch. His style is all wrong for him and we saw that in the last fight. I think Groves is more up for it than Froch and whatever the outcome is I'm sure it's going be one hell of a fight :bbb

Froch is not and has never been a single shot concussive puncher, when he stops fighters its usually down to the cumulative effect of punches. What he is good at is finishing the job, if he has an opponent against the ropes and eating shots, he almost always finishes the job.

I love the comments about Froch being unable to adapt, being one dimensional, having no plan B etc etc.
But what does he have to do differently ?
He got ****y in the 1st and got caught square on and knocked down, he was getting caught with big shots for most of the fight, he was struggling to pin Groves down, but the facts are that he did what he does in most fights, he gets outboxed and looks clumsy, but eventually he grinds the opponent down and takes control.
Whether the stoppage was wrong or not, Groves was gassed, was eating big shots, his defense was non existent and he was staggering around like a drunk.
Groves was where Froch wanted him, and would have done very well to last the next 10 minutes.

A better question would be, what is Groves going to do differently ?
Conserve energy ?
Don't be drawn into a gunfight ?
Outbox Froch at range ?

The fact is that Groves was only allowed to dictate the fight last time as Froch was knocked down in the first, and spent numerous rounds shaking off the effects of the knockdown.
So how will Groves rattle Froch if he fights more passively ?

Too many people being sucked into the Groves hype simply because they were surprised by how much success he had in the first fight.
How many were confident he was in control when Froch was landing at will before the stoppage ?

I think the ref did Groves and his fanboys a massive favour, by giving then an excuse to carry on crowing and whining for the last 5 months.

 

it makes a pleasant change to see some realism from the groves side, admitting he did struggle with his stamina, and despite losing rounds froch was connecting successfully. i reckon there's a reason he only hit the deck once though, and we won't see it again.

 

Froch did not bottle it, he got the w. At the end of the day Groves had a career best performance and Froch had his career worst and Groves STILL lost so make of that what you will.

 

What the hell has that got to do with you saying groves is a bottle job if he doesn't do what he said and knock froch out within 3?
