Stieglitz only fought a couple of months ago - he isn't obliged to fight his mandatory until the WBO forces his hand. The fight will definitely happen.
As I said it Groves is mandatory for a long time now and already had chances to fight Stieglitz. Now he even talks about another tune up fight before facing Stieglitz. I think they are not so sure like you are about an easy fight with Stieglitz.
Erm ... it's well documented he had to pull out of the fight last year with an injury. And so what if he fights on an undercard before his headline show in September? What has that got to do with anything? Why don't you stop being such a coward and take the bet? If the fight ends on a cut, or if it's clearly a bs decision the bet will be null and void. If you're so confident you'd take the bet - it's only a month for crying out loud.
I take it. Groves wont have an asy fight with Stieglitz. You are a fool if you think so. Stieglitz already beat better guys than hype job Grovs who is wide open for counters. And I am not even sure if we see that fight. Too risky for Groves to lose against an unkown Stieglitz. A Froch fight would never happen then.
Magee or Manfredo in July and Abraham or Stieglitz in November, thats what I'd like to see personally.
Groves would beat Stieglitz easily. That's an easy fight. Stieglitz is just an upright, 1-2-3 ABC kind of guy. There is nothing remotely worrying about him, and he doesn't punch either. That's fine against Balzsay who again is totally upright and stiff, or Abraham who isn't any kind of force at 168, probably seen his best days and throws 5 hayemakers a round which is the only thing to worry about (and he still managed to lose to him once) But against gifted fighters that aren't mechnical Stieglitz is not really a worrying proposition. I'd put him in with Stieglitz tomorrow.
Yeah, I agree. The win over Abraham was good but I have huge questions about Abraham at this stage of his career. The loss to Froch was the end of him as a top level, dedicated fighter I think and to me, he just looks like a fighter who is turning up for the pay. I have no doubts that Groves would shut out Abraham. I think Groves would soundly beat Stieglitz, who is a solid but unspectacular fighter. Groves is impressing me a lot lately and I think the past few fights in quick succession have been exactly what he needed to improve.
I've never seen Stieglitz fight but if Groves is favourite like you guys are saying, surely this fight must happen this year? No brainer really for Eddie Hearn, 2 Super Middleweight World Champions, possibly with the winner taking on Ward!
The thing is Groves is not that great. Stieglitz has a high workrate a decent defense (now he has it in the past he had it not), very fast hands. And you say he cant punch? Then look at the Abraham fight! He hurt Abraham like nobody else could do. Stieglitz has decent power and Groves never fought a guy at the level of Stieglitz. Groves already got dropped and hurt against low level guys. The first time Stieglitz hits him with a fast punch Groves cant see coming (one thing Stieglitz is good at) Groves will get hurt and his face will bust up. Balzsay had to be carried out of the ring and arena with a stretcher because he just could to compete with this high workrate. After the break from the 11. round he was standing up and staggering around the ring because he was ****ing gassed out because of the high pace Stieglitz can set. And Balzsay was a world champion and Stieglitz the big underdog at that fight. Sdunek was training him and Sdunek only trains good fighters. The Groves hype here is pretty funny. So far Groves has not beaten any decent guy. Thats also why Froch is right about Groves not deserving a fight with him. Put Groves in with Sartison! A guy who went 12 rounds with hard hitters like Kessler and Balzsay! But now Groves will fight another hand picked opponent. Like Alcoba.
Think they're keen on Stieglitz since they've already tried to make it, they know he's not a puncher and thats what Groves' handlers would be worrying about when matching him at the top level after the Anderson debacle.Think the Froch talk is all bluster, this will be the route. I would honestly take the fight anywhere, if you're trying to go all the way with the sort of style Groves has which is to ambush, feint and counter over the top you should be eating up guys like Stieglitz for breakfast. There is honestly nothing that should be problematic, Stieglitz is a solid guy with a good work-rate but is there anything to lose sleep over if you can do 12 rounds with Stieglitz without worrying about the distance? He's the sort of guy you should be showing angles and countering over his predictable forays all night and really just taking him to school with footwork and variety. If Groves is what they think and as talented as he looks at this level it shouldn't be a massive ask to go in there and do a number on him. The "real" world champions are a completely different story.
You dont watch many Stieglitz fights or Groves fights. First Groves is not that special. He already is mandatory for a long time for Stieglitz yet he was not able to fight him so far and I doubt we will see this fight. Groves is not a fighter wo eats ANYBODY DECENT for breakfast!atschatschatsch And Stieglitz can hurt his opponents when he fights with light Gloves like he did against Abraham. If you can hurt Abraham you can hurt Groves pretty easy. And Stieglitzs best part is not his work rate!!!!!!! Is best part are his fast hands! (shows me all when you only say that Stieglitz only has a good work rate when one of his best skills is punching speed)
The only reason he got Abraham out of there was because of the injury, otherwise it was a 12 round certainty again. So what if he hurt him anyway, Abe has been softened up beyond belief, he's been absorbing punches around the side of his guard for years. That takes its toll. He's a non-entity at this weight, you can throw hayemakers and catch up when you're a genuine one punch knockout artist at the weight, but all the signs are that Abe isn't that at 168lbs so what does he offer? I'm not really bothered who trained Balzsay, I don't think he's anything great. If Groves fought Balzsay nobody would bat an eyelid, he's a European level fighter that again is just good at the basics. Throwing 1-2's and flat footed. Of course you can overwhelm flat footed guys like Balzsay if you can set a pace. There are about 20 ways you can dominate guys like Balzsay and Stieglitz adopted one of them successfully, fair play to him. I agree Groves competition is pretty dire, except for DeGale and I scored that for DeGale, even Johnson offered little at that stage. But I'm just calling what I see, the only thing Stieglitz has going for him stylistically is if he can pump out punches all night and test Groves' stamina. Even if what you say is true and Stieglitz beats him, the point is if Groves and his people think he's what they are blowing him up to be, you have to be beating guys like Stieglitz who would be well out of his depth against the big boys.
I don't think he's that fast really. Compared to who? How is his handspeed compared to DeGale, Groves, Ward, Bute, Dirrell, Kessler. And thats just at this weight! He's only comparatively fast against Abraham, Balzsay and all the other B grade opposition who aren't remotely fast. The main things I see in him are coming forward, throwing 1-2's and some bodywork in combination, a decent chin, average power and yes...a very good work-rate. But its all straight lines, ABC, thats why he's pretty limited and a target if you wanna pick up a title. The main thing is definitely his work-rate, I'd say thats his best attribute as a whole in a broadest sense because that attribute is actually top notch comparable or better than anybody in the division, whereas his speed...isn't. I don't think there is a fighter in the world that doesn't look fast against Abraham, Froch looked like Charlie Burley in there against Abe from range. So I don't get too enthused seeing Stieglitz look relatively fast against him, I take a step back and look at his handspeed objectively compared to those guys who are genuinely quick, and I don't think he can come anywhere but last in a comparison.
